Very good hostel. Well marked from the train station, and it is just a short walk away from the station. Quiet hostel the three nights I was there. View from mess hall is wonderful.

It is close to the castles and many hiking/biking trails. The trails are well maintained and clearly marked (comprehensive maps can be purchased at Füssen information center). One could easily spend several days hiking the various trails around. The hostel is also very near public transportation (10 minutes to train station with taxis, buses, etc.) for those who prefer this transportation.

Overall I would rate it a 4 to 4.5 star hostel. Very minor drawbacks include having the internet/computer down when I was there. Also showers are closed from 22:00 to 6:30 because of noise.

I stayed in this hostel around May 20. The hostel claimed in their website and their email to me that the hostel is just 800m away from train station. However, you have to be cautious with their claim. Their hostel is not near to the train station and is not easy to find!

First of all, the hostel is located in a neighbourhood area farther from train station and town center. The hostel asked me to follow the railtrack to reach to the hostel. It's really true. You have to walk along beside the railtrack in the direction opposite to the incoming train for about 5 minutes. And then you will find yourself in a neighbourhood area. The road sign to the hostel is not clear and we easily made the wrong turn and entered into private properties. The trick is that you have to keep walking along the main road (in parallel to the railtrack on your right hand side), and don't make any turn, until you cannot see any house on your left-hand side and almost lose your confidence. Then just walked for about 2 minutes farther and suddenly the white 2-story house will appear on your left-hand side. That's it. Be prepared to walk for 15-20 minutes in the rain in the summer evening from the train station to this hostel.

Furthermore, the hostel is full of kids and becomes very noisy in the evening time. Maybe there was a school holiday during our stay. You really cannot rest in the room or in any other places in this hostel, because virtually kids play everywhere inside the building.

Lastly, watch out their shower lockout time. After 10pm and before 6:30am, you cannot have showers because the shower rooms will be closed during this time. What an inconvenient policy for those staying here during their summer time!

PS: for those travel together in mixed genders, be prepared to stay separately in single-sex rooms. Although in their emails to you, they might say that the availablility of a bed in mix-gender 4-person rooms will be only known on the day you check in, the fact is that apparently you can never get such a bed:(

This was a fairly decent hostel that I stayed at during my trip to Europe. It's not super lively--lots of families stay there, but it's super clean, which is where much of my favorable opinion comes from. Some weird things though--they have strange times when you can shower and not shower--ie, the shower is locked from 10 at night till 7 in the morning, and is locked during part of the afternoon as well. Breakfast is in a pretty short window too. And they mixed up the reservation of some people I met while staying there, by overbooking. However, it's a 10 min walk to the train station, where you can catch a public bus to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. Hint--go early in the morning, to avoid huge crowds!

The check-in time was far too long. One had to reserve a table if they wanted to eat at breakfast, and even for German breakfasts (usually a couple of cold cuts) this was quite sparse. Nothing much to do around the hostel, either: the TV only picks up local channels, and the sole entertainment seems to be a foosball table in the basement. However, Fussen is a great town, and if you want to see it on a budget, then I guess this is the choice for you.

The hostel was very clean. A secure locker was provided in the rooms, one for each person. The hostel was popular for families. Advanced booking strongly recommended, and the hostel also accepted credit card payments. In my opinion breakfast time was too early and too short (7.00-8.00). Over all excellcnt accomodation was provided, and the staff could communicate fluently through english.
