Of all the hostels I stayed in during my five weeks backpacking, Easy Palace was the most pleasant and the cleanest place I lay my head. Situated in a nice area with a supermarket, and the subway only a minute away, the staff at the reception were friendly and provided helpful and detailed information about where to go,what to see and the latest club listings were posted too. The rooms were spacious and bright with large windows and an en-suite shower/toilet. The bunk beds were brilliant- you didn't need your own sheets and the pillows were big and fluffy (a thing you come to appreciate after 3 weeks of horror hostels!). Downstairs there was a bar that played pretty cool tunes and there definitely was a friendly, party atmosphere. Although I couldn't figure out how to get the TV on, the common room was a handy place to sit and eat pasta. However, the kitchen was tiny and the cooking utensils left something to be desired. But hey, who spends that much time in the kitchen? Overall, The Easy Palace was a refreshing break away from the rest of the unattractive places I stayed. I'd recommend it to anyone who's thinking of visiting Munich. Oh, and the beer halls are good too. Just make sure you remember you're way home!

When I arrived at this hostel they only had a bed for me in a 5 bedded "apartment" for 25, I took it up because they were playing 'While My Guitar Gently Sleeps', by 'The Beatles', which is one of my favorite tracks by them. The "apartment" looked like a dorm apart from it had its own shower and toilet and a room that had a sink, fridge and a little cooker, which is presume would be called the kitchen. When I came back from drinking some American girl pointed out that there was a sign on the wall that said "no cooking allowed". Hmmmm. I was drunk though, so I may be wrong, it just makes me laugh to think of it. The hostel is an easy 20 minute walk from the station, serves cheap beer, has a McDonalds and a cinema next door, no curfew, nothing really to have a moan about.

I stayed there for 2 nights in December 2003. Honestly, I wish we had stayed there the entire trip. The common room is very clean. The rooms look brand new with comfortable beds. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful in explaining the subway to me and my friend...and in helping us choose a place to eat. The bathroom was nice and spacious. The one draw-back is that it's not two seconds from the train station. You will have to walk for a while (or take the U-bahn---the stop is across the street from the hostel) ---but it's worth it! Have a great time!

I stayed here in September 2003 - just a few weeks after it opened. This place is incredible. The staff are extremely nice. The hostel is very clean, and the rooms are great. Everything is brand-spanking new. My room was spacious and had a very good en-suite bathroom. The hostel is a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, though only 1 minute from the closest metro station. Don't be put off, as the area in which the hostel is located is clearly wealthy and there are no scummy people hanging around (as there are closer to the train station). I have stayed at dozens of hostels through Europe, and this truly is one of the best you will find. Well done, Easy Palace!

was conned into staying here by the claims that it was close to the train station. (had to take a train early the next morning and needed to splash out on a taxi).A good mile from the station and no direct subway line. Also the staff didn't seem to have much time for me which was a bit surprising as I seemed to be one of the only people staying there.not recommended !

Nice enough spacious rooms here, friendly enough staff too. In fact if it wasn't at least 20 minutes from anything of interest (despite misleading claims to be central) and had a few more people been staying here I might have stayed a bit longer.

Easy palace is one of the nicest places i have stayed particularly around europe. It is a great location, easy walking distance from main station as well as main tourist sites. The staff are very friendly and helpful. the rooms were extremley clean and they even make your bed in the morning. Shower excellentas well. WOuldnt bother with the buffet breakfast, is too expensive for what you get. The communal areas also arent brilliant but still fine to come down and have a few drinks. Would definitely return and i highly recommend this place

I am currently staying at this hostel (late October 2003) and I am very pleased with the location, the atmosphere, and the staff! First, two main U-bahn lines (U3 & U6) are literally less than 2 minutes walk right out the door. These lines link directly to the Marienplatz city center, just a short ride away (maybe 5 minutes). I feel very safe walking to and from the subway, even at night. The hostel is next door to 2 cafes, a movie theater, the post office, and the grocery store and bars are just around the corner.I have been traveling for one month, stayed at many hostels, and found the staff here to be *top notch*. They are very friendly, helpful and social. One girl even helped me translate German movie reviews and look up ticket information online. Also, someone is at the front desk all night. The atmosphere at Easy Planet is also very warm. The main lobby has several cozy couches, a few bistro tables, 2 internet terminals (with ENGLISH keyboards!!), and a pool table. They also have some good atmospheric lighting (dim lamps, several lava lamps) creating a warm environment. Accomodations: I was initally booked in a large dorm (maybe 8 beds), and the room only had one sink, and one shower, and one toilet. It appeared there was another bathroom but it was under construction. My roommate was creepy though, so I asked to switch rooms and it was no problem at all. My next room was a 5 bed dorm, with it's own *complete* bathroom (2 sinks, 1 shower and 1 toilet) within the room. The room was clean, very large, with nice wood furniture (even a table and chairs, and a coat rack!). The bedding was good (clean sheets, nice comforter, fluffy pillow) as well.Reasons I did not give this hostel 5 stars: no kitchen, pay 4.90 for breakfast (rolls, cereal, cheese--not worth it), and no lockers inside the rooms.Overall I had a really good stay at this hostel, and would highly recommend it!

I only had one night in Munich, and after checking in at the Easy Palace, I felt very comfortable. There were only 4 people in our room with our own shower and toilet so that was nice, and they have a deal with the resturant next door to get half price pizzas between 5 and 7 pm. It was by far the best and largest pizza I ever had! Only a few Roman places were able to top it!Great place to stay when in Munich. It is about a 15 min walk from the main trainstation, so its doable with your pack.
