I ended up at this hostel after the Euro Youth Hostel lost my reservation. The front desk staff was nice and helpful in a lot of ways. The breakfast was worth the price, tasty but the breakfast staff is SO grumpy and they watch you as though you're stealing it somehow. They did NOT inform me I was staying in a mixed dorm and I didn't discover this until I woke up surrounded by half naked men in the middle of the night - me being the only girl in the room. The showers... I didn't even bother, thank God I only stayed two nights. I tested the taps and the water trickled and was cold, the stalls were dirty and had no curtains to stand behind, and the large windows which were one body width away and crotch high were jammed open so it was cold and anyone could see you! The bathrooms on the whole were reasonable though. There were people partying and smoking all night in both the room across the hall both nights and in my room on the first night (even though there's supposed to be quiet time after 11pm and no smoking in the rooms) and only one staff member was once willing to go up and say something about it.The second night I ended up switching to stay with some calmer people I'd met there in the morning and the staff was great about moving us in together. The place is overall relatively clean. It would be really nice if you didn't have to wait in a smoke choked room to check in - I know people need their ciggies but it would be better to have it in a closed off area so the rest of us can live. You'll meet people from all over the world and the staff speaks a number of languages and is very patient with those who are difficult to understand. It's super close to the train station and they'll help you a little with directions to some places or suggestions for things to see.I would stay here again.

The location of this hostel and security are good. However, it is way too expenisive, group orientated and not a good place for socialising. There's no bar or kitchen, the breakfast costs over 4 euros and you may have to change rooms to make way for a group (which they don't warn you about when you check in).

The good things about this place were big individual lockers that lock, comfy beds with a shelf beside them, hot showers, and close proximity to the train station. The bad things were it's noisy (from groups of school kids, and people coming in late), the showers don't give you much privacy - most of the curtains don't even go all the way across the door plus there are no private changing areas, and the breakfast buffet is fairly limited.

I didn't love this place.....not sure why exactly, perhaps after staying at Circus 2 in Berlin a few days before I was spoiled. As far as hostels go it was not too bad in general. The pictures on there web site are decieving..it looks way better than it is...perhaps taken when it was new at ideal angles. It is a few blocks from the train station which I suppose is good after travelling and if you have a heavy backpack...but the main sites are further out by metro. Munich has an excellent metro system so not really that inconvienient to get around. The train station has lots of takeout food places which is good because Munich is a hard place to find cheap food in.The hostel is run down...desperately need new paint and some fixing up, mostly cosmetic stuff. Showers are push button and only give you a couple seconds of water which each push so very difficult to shower...most of the shower curtains were ripped. The water pressure was decent enough and I did get hot water. Bathrooms were clean. The rooms were spacious and bright with lockers big enough to hold your backpack. Bunkbeds with side shelves and bedside lights. The mattress, duvet and pillows were stained and looked gross. There is laundry on site that cost around 3-4euros. There is a TV in the downstairs dining room with the perpetual CNN showing. The "common room" was a picnic table and a beer vending maching... also doubling as a smoking area..not really nice to hang out in so this place was not condusive to mingling. There is a large dining room downstairs with lots of tables/benches but too big to encourage sociallizing. There is only one internet terminal...old coin operated, bad keyboard and 8 euros per hour(expensive) and not worth it as easy internet is a 2 minute walk away by the train station at 1-3euros per hour depending on time of day. They had a decent sized breakfast buffet but all typical European breakfast ie. lunch stuff - deli meat, buns-cheese...cornflakes and yogurt...for half the price it is better to hit a grocery store and buy your own fruit/juice/yogurt. Would I stay here again? It wasn't THAT bad but honestly, I would take my chances somewhere else...I think I could do better.

We booked this place based largely on the reviews on this site. We're in our mid-20s and weren't looking for all-night party hostels. We've both travelled extensively and we like hostels with travellers who respect others. This is not the place for that.To begin with, the hostel doesn't seem to cater to backpackers as much as it does busloads of LOUD teens and college kids. We were exhausted and just wanted to sleep. However, the screaming (literally) and running up and down the halls at ALL hours of the night prevented this. Luckily the 4U has a hotel on site that we checked into. The location also sucked. Yes, it's near the train station, but that's it. You have to metro to go anywhere in Munich. There's nothing near the hostel except seedy motels and restaurants. It's also dangerous at night. If you want sleep, a comfortable room, and fellow backpackers to talk to - THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. If you're an idiot teen who travels just to drink, then stay here.

This hostel is a 2 min walk from the main train station! The station also is a main underground stop, so it is an ideal place to stay! I found the hostel to be very clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous, and there were a few beer vending machines in the lobby, which is always nice! There's an excellent place to do laundry just a few blocks away, and an amazing local beer hall/brewery filled with locals within a short walk as well. There's also an EasyInternet cafe across the street from the train station. I had an excellent time in Munich, and staying at the "4 You Munchen" had a good hand in that! I would definitely recommend, and would stay there again if returning.

Not a lot seems to go on here. There is a huge age range in the place from about 10 - 60 yrs. For english speakers the staff is very good on nice but very few of the geusts seem to speak english. The beds are comfortable and the washrooms are very good. Lockers and sheets are included but breakfast is not. Just a shade on the pricey side.
