Great place: clean, hip, friendly, good location, wonderful tours!!, August 9, 2008
Reviewer: citydweller from Finland

Pros: Free walking tour around Munich was FAB
Cons: No kitchen to cook for yourself. Many of the computers weren't working, but the net was cheap.

If I ever go to Munich again I would definitely stay here again. The place is very new, and all the surfaces are colourfull and the place looks awesome. The rooms are big enough, although a bit too hot in the summer. It has a very nice atrium with hammocks and plants which is an ideal place to relax after a long day in the city.. before heading for the nightlife!

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the best thing ever was Ozzie's tour around Munchen. The tour is free, but everyone gives a hefty tip to the guide since it really was a great tour, and it lasted for 4 hours!!

There's a bar downstrairs, which is convenient: the drinks are cheap but the bartenders are not all too good: long island ice tea tasted like.. coke? coffee?? and tequila sunrise was also very strange-tasting..

Like everybody says, this is one of the best hostels around, it seemed like everybody from the hostels next door were coming to drink at the Wombar, as they call it. The bar has reasonably priced drinks and food, and is usually pretty packed most of the time, opens at like 20:00 i think. The hostel is literally one street from the train station. The rooms are nice, but if they didnt have bunk beds they would be great because its pretty hard to climb in a bed wasted. also the lockers would be great if they were next to each bed, but they are in the middle of the room, but big enough for you big backpack, and everything else. The room was quite large though, and very clean, and had a bathroom ensuite which was nice, and convenient. It was close to most things, except the chinese tower to the north which is about a half hour walk. Also has the FREE! New Munich tours right outside the door in the morning, which i would also recommend going on if you are in munich, would stay here again definately.

The best hostel I've ever stayed in. No joke. First of all, it is central. It is literally across the street from the train station, and it is no more than 5 minutes from Marianplatz. It is also a mere 15 minutes from the Oktoberfest grounds, which is nice when you're trying to negotiate the drunken walk home. The rooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms. The showers are amazing. And the bar is the best hostel bar I've ever been in, a great place to down a couple of Jager Bombs before heading off into the Munich night. There is no reason to stay anywhere else in Munich.

The place just opened during the Oktoberfest. It's really fantastic & superclean!! Really good hostal with a good atmosphere in an even better location. The people were awesome, it's so colorful and I would highly reccomend it to fellow backpackers!

I stayed in Wombats Munich last week and Oh my God what a place. The Hostel is fantastic with an ace Atrium, (think posh Greenhouse with beers) a Bar which is soooo cool and the reception staff can help you with anything and they even smile. I actually rate this place with 6 stars. Go to Wombats - send your friends and everyone you meet in the street!!! Thanks you Wombats
