Pros: Staff are brilliant. Couldn't be more helpful. Right by market. Really beautiful place.
Cons: Encountered some junkies on way up to hostel. Be careful.

I arrived here after taking the ICE train. The heatwave was oppressive and I was very tired. Even though the hostel was full the desk clerk went way out of his way to accomodate me and had a bed made up in a HUGE room. I had the room all to myself. The facilities are excellent and the breakfast is amazing. I really can't say enough about the hospitality I received from the staff at this hostel. The building is like a castle but the staff are the princess and princesses.

You have to walk up cobble stoned streets passed a fountain to get to the hostel. I encountered some junkies at the fountain area and they hassled me a bit for money. I just told them I had none. Be careful around this area.

There is a beaultiful market just below the hostel but you have to be up with the lark to catch it.

I highly recommend this hostel to all. Very kid friendly too!

We arrived at an unusual check in time, around 1:30 and were let in with no problems. The staff were nice, although not the most attentive I have ever seen. Room I stayed in was very clean, and big. Comfortable bunk beds. No lights over beds though, so make your bed before you go out if you plan to return late! Bathrooms were clean, showers also. Hostel also has recreation room with table tennis and such. Location is very good, right next to castle, walking distance to town center. Breakfast is included but there was a huge line to wait for it, due to the large number of groups. If you want a personal, cozy experience - dont stay here. If you want a good value, clean room in a convenient location, this is a great place.

The location and the hostel building itself are outstanding. The hostel is based in the stables of the castle on the northernmost part of the town wall, no more than 10 minutes walk from the city's central sqaure. The interior is very characteristic, and makes a memorable stay. As for being a place to stay, I found the staff pleasant and friendly, all the facilties I needed (bar laundry), and a comfortable place to sort myself out after being caught in a nightmare flood in Czech the night previously. The hostel was quite laid back, there was a curfew, but it was around 1-2 am, and contrary to Bavaria usual harsh 'no over 25s' rule, over 25s could stay. The hostel was slightly institutional, but not oppressively so, and I was quite happy to spend a few nights there.
