the hostel is located on the high hill at oberhaus. follow the sign from the bahnhof or rathaus. but after crossing the suspension bridge, IGNORE the misplaced sign, which will never be made correct i suppose. (i read let's go 2001, and when i visited there feb 2003, the sign was pointing wrong direction, which led me straight upwards to a staircase. i thought it must have been replaced, not i was totally wrong, and ended up risking my life climbing up hill even without fence! on ice!) instead, turn right and get across the left hand side tunnel. then go on the driveway uphills, and make a turn when you meet one. this is the only SAFE way climbing up in winter. in summer, i will climb up that route that passau tourist office points out, with fantastic panorama view over the passau town. the hostel is ok, food ok too. it's just too far away.
