BUG Review
Circus is a big clean hostel with a nice relaxed atmosphere. However it doesn't have many facilities other than Internet access and a bar. Accommodation is in nice rooms with en suite amenities.

Without any doubt this is the best hostel in Europe that I have discovered. I stayed here for 2 nights last summer and have just booked 3 nights this summer. The place is well priced, has the friendliest staff I have ever encountered and is spotlessly clean. It is well organised and decorated and has a fantastic atmosphere. I would only have 2 minor criticisms, the front rooms can be noisy with the trams going past and judging by the frequency of ambulance sirens I suspect it is near a hospital. My only other petty criticism would be that the shower controls are annoying, temperature hard to get right and don't stay on for long enough. I'd challenge anyone to find somewhere in Berlin which offers the value for money that this place does. I would say it is better than some 4 star hotels I have stayed in.

I was at Circus (the main building) in March of last year. The location was great, the staff was quite friendly, the rooms were big and airy (hello Ikea!), the showers and bathrooms were fine, the bar was cool... need I say more? Key cards to get onto the floor and into the rooms made it the safest hostel I've stayed in by far. Being able to get transit and museum passes at the hostel was a definite bonus, too, and the café's breakfast, while nothing to brag about, worked out well. Not to mention the Turkish pizza's at the stand across the street!

i stayed here new year's eve 2004-2005. it's the best hostel that i've ever stayed in ... very cheap, clean, great decorating, amazing/friendly staff, good location as it's right by the metro. i have no complaints whatsoever.

Very impressive hostel. Very clean rooms, no bunks (hurrah!) in the mixed room we were in. No actual kitchen but has a little kitchenette thing with kettle and microwave and fridges, so you can scrape by if needed. Internet access, very helpful staff. Close to supermarket, u-bahn, cool little shops, a few funky bars, alexanderplatz etc. The water pressure of the showers is pretty ferocious though (it may seem a little thing but they are BLOODY strong!) so if you bruise easily stay away! Also if you are in Berlin do the new berlin walking tour - its free and very good.

I had a reservation about a week in advance for the Circus, which all went as planned. On arrival at the Circus, a mix up (they had interpreted my 11:30pm arrival as 11:30am) meant that no bed was available. As soon as they had realised the problem, not only did they ring a nearby hostel and organise a bed for me, but gave me the cash for a taxi to get there, and called the taxi. The next day, I returned to the Circus to stay, and the place is clean, lively, WARM, comfortable and located right next to everything you could need (markets, station, banks etc.) Thanks to the staff of the Circus!

The place is clean, and packed with awesome people. It is only a short walk from Museum Island, and for everything else there is an U-Bahn stop right out the front door. This is the best hostel I stayed in while in Europe.
Staff had confused our reservations but offered us a no hassle, no extra charge chance to sleep in the private apartments they have. VERY COOL! Two bedrooms, kitchen, living area, and spacious bathroom - very clean and very nice. Have no idea how much it costs, but it was great to have private space after months in hostels. Staff was friendly and location was good. The common area was cool and they had a good book trade. Tons of info on Berlin stuff available and info on other destinations as well.

That really sums it up, this hostel was fab! I'm sure it should be classed as a hotel but seriously it's everything you need. Stayed in a large dorm but didn't really feel like it was, decorated well, comfy beds, yes everything is from Ikea but it was done up good. Breakfast was lush - fresh fruit, cereals, breads, everything fresh and warm or cold as appropriate for once! Staff very friendly, sold chocolate behind the desk (come on that's got to be a plus for us girls...), metro outside the front door and tram stops too. For the price aswell, i would have expected to pay more. Really, if you're going to Berlin, you have to stay here.

if a little on the stiff and dull side.though it seemed to foster an atmosphere of chill and chattiness, which was refreshing after amsterdams crass. nice staff eager to help, most of them travellers. well positioned and within walking distance to lots of great clubs and shops.the place was an ikea nightmare though. ;)
