This hostel was great, definitely one of the best that I have stayed at. It has a great atmosphere to it. It's got friendly staff who know everything there is to know about everything, and are always ready to answer questions. It's got a cafe right inside, and a bar downstairs that opens at 9, and has happy hour of 3 euro liter beers. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm, with a bathroom down the hall, which was not as much of an inconvenience as i thought it would be. Everything was very clean. The bar downstairs and the cafe were also great places to hang out after a long day of walking around Berlin.

Like most others, I loved this hostel and can highly recommend it. I had a twin room ensuite, and it was huge and clean. Bigger and cleaner than most hotel rooms even. Security is great, staff is incredibly knowledgable, nice location, and great bar.

The Circus as a really great atmosphere, and meeting new people in the bar or cafe was fun and easy. The cafe serves cheap meals that are actually pretty good, and Goldman's bar downstairs has a great vibe and cheap drinks, even karaoke night every wednesday!

I could go on, but just go here, it's awesome.

The best place to stay in one of the greatest cities, November 25, 2006

I stayed here twice this year and would not stay anywhere else. The rooms are very big and well equipped - there may not be lockers in the room but there are drawers for you to put your things, and reception has a safe. The dorm I stayed in was an 8 bed and was in a large room with only two sets of bunks, the rest were single beds. The rooms are ikea furnished with bright painted walls, and little extras like good coathangers, bins with compartments for recycling and a mirror.

The staff are extremely knowledgable, friendly and helpful - no question is too hard, and i doubt that there is anything that would stump them for an answer.

Breakfast is for an additional cost but very good with a range of options.

The hostel is well located - you can easily walk to Unter den Linden, and you can also hire bikes, which is a great way to see an absolutely amazing city.

I could go on and on, but I wont. All I can say is that you must stay here!

This hostel should be called the IKEA hotel, Good thing it was at the end of my trip because everything else I stayed in takes a second place to this hostel. Clean +++

bathrooms were clean, quiet rooms, excellent staff , secure

The cafe downstairs was reasonable and had excellent salads and munchies, small ok bar downstairs

kabab place kitty corner from hostel offers excellent cheap meals (the one across the main street not the small street in front of the hostel) access to U-bahn right outside the door takes you almost anywhere in berlin

highly recommended***********

The whole hostel is totally new and rooms have all new furniture - sidetables, lamps, cupboards. There are clean showers and toliets on every floor and great security. The best bit was the price! Really cheap for what you get. The internet is expensive but there is cheaper options around the corner. Also great food around the hostel.

I stayed here for 4 days. Great hostel. I would recommend it to anyone. The rooms, toilets and showers are clean.

More than anything the atmosphere and interaction among the hostelers is great. Better than any other hostel I have been in.

The staff is very very friendly and helpful.

Moreover it is situated right next to an underground rail station, providing easy access to all parts of Berlin. Although you might have to change trains to go to some places.

Sure is the best place to stay in Berlin.

I have been in Europe for 3 months now and have stayed at my fair share of hostels. The Circus was easily the best one I've stayed in.

With most hostels, there's a tradeoff between cleanliness and socialness. The HI-affiliated hostels are as clean as a hospital, but you pay for that by having to deal with a hospital-like atmosphere. Independent hostels can have better atmosphere but can also be a little gross. The Circus struck the perfect balance. The place was clean and sanitary and still remained social and a great place to meet other travellers.

Aside from being really clean (fresh bed linen, clean rooms, clean bathrooms) the staff is also amazing. I asked for bar/restaurant/club recommendations from the staff every night and they always gave me a cool place to check out that wouldn't neccesarily be filled with other travellers. They made me feel instantly plugged into Berlin, and even helped me translate concert listings. They were also immensely helpful--they will call around to other hostels if there's no more beds available so you don't have to schlep around Berlin with all your stuff. They will make train reservations for you. They will call other hostels in other cities to confirm or cancel bookings. They will let you leave your stuff behind the desk all day so you don't have to pay for a locker at the train station. And they sell phonecards with great rates.

If you have a slightly bigger budget then you can also stay in their apartments (I think it's 30/night/person).

The area is great, really close to cheap and not-so-cheap restaurants, the u-bahn, trams, and really trendy shopping areas.

If you can get a reservation at this place then you should definately stay there.
