We only ended up staying here as we got lost (!), but it's a fine place to spend a night or two. The rooms are good, we had an ensuite shower etc, and a big breakfast never goes amiss!

I *like* this place. Sure, its a bit outside downtown Berlin, so its not a party place, and it can be full of schoolgroups (like most HI places), but its right on the Wannsee. You can see the site of the Wannsee conference from the garden. There are trees everywhere, the rooms are small but clean, the showers work, there's a good breakfast (you *MUST* wear shoes to breakfast. This is very important to the large German shoepolice lady who serves coffee). I liked the schoolgroups. They were mostly well-behaved, had some really informative lectures in the back garden, and always kept their stash of beer in the woods next door where the german punks dance round campfires but are really friendly if you speak german and give them cigarettes. The hostel staff are efficient enough, and I only left because it was fully booked.
