I've stayed at Mitte's Backpacker Hostel on numerous occasions. The location is pretty good; close to the city centre, and almost directly outside the exit of an u-bahn station. The staff are friendly and helpful. They really need to get an elevator, as the hostel entrance is on the third of fourth floor (in fact, this is a criticism the hostel has heard a million times). Rooms are not secure and most do not have locks on the doors. This would not be so bad if there were sufficient lockers (there are only a few).

Positives - very close to public transport; rooms don't have bunk beds (always a bonus) but have about 6-8 single beds; bathroom facilities very clean; friendly staff; reception desk also doubles as a bar; large common area; great place for meeting people.

Negatives - not the most central location & not the safest area to go out on your own at night.

We've stayed at this hostel in March this year. First thing that annoyed me is that they don't hold reservations. Even if you do an online booking, you have to reconfirm, otherwise they'll give your room away.

Some staff members - not all - were extremely unfriendly and gave us the feeling that we were a burden whenever we asked for something. The rooms are ok, nice design and everything but a bit dirty and smelly. And, what I hated most: you don't get a key for your room, the doors always stay open. So practically everybody who lives in the hostel could just walk in. There are lockers, but not enough to offer storage for everybody. The sanitary facilities are ok, but there are just not enough showers and toilets. The common room is great and they sell drinks at really reasonable prices. I've seen better hostels though. I think the staff could make way more out of this hostel!

We were 3 girls travelling trough Europe for about a month and a half... and we stayed at all kind of hostels. It was a little bit scary to share the room with 4 guys at the beginning but after 5 days staying at mitte's it just felt like home!!!... We recomend this hostel!!!

Stayed there over the summer for a few nights and it was unbelievable. The staff was very helpful in recommending things for in terms of nightlife. Also they sell budweisser which is one of the best beers out there. The rooms are clean and the penthouse is a rawkus time. Definitely worth it.

The only downside is hauling your pack up and down the stairs, but that's really not that bad.

we were greeted by friendly staff, the rooms were cool, but ours was a bit smelly, the showers weren't great but the hostel made up for it, great kind of chill out room when you walked in which was a great way to meet people, really close to the metro station and a few food joints around the area, i don't recommend the pizza's from the turkish place though.

Really great place to stay. Friendly and helpful english (and even some spanish) speaking guys at the reception, walkable distance to main sights, convenient metro stop and cheap turkish food in the same block, clean toilets, nice and big mixed rooms, good price...

The only drawbacks I found is that you have to climb 3 to 5 floors, and they don't take Travelers Cheques.

Very cute hostel. The rooms were very cute, each decorated individually with different themes. There was a nice, comfortable reception area with couches and tables to relax, play games and meet people. But most importantly, the staff was exremely helpful. They gave us directions, advice and overall, they were very nice people. I would definatly suggest staying here, even though the rooms were a little cold.

Thier was five sweaty scotsman, just returned from the Scotland - Poland game, weary for a wash, place to stay and something to eat. with a click of the fingers we were all fed, washed and watered. The staff could not do enough to help and the rooms were first class.
