BUG Review
Pegasus is a big hostel, but it has a cool ambience. Although it is in a renovated school it doesn't have the institutional feel that this would normally imply. The hostel has quite good common areas that include a kitchen, laundry, TV lounge plus Internet access, a pool table, table soccer and a bar. It is in a residential area although it's not too far from Alexanderplatz.

I was in Berlin for the wolrd cup 2006. It was a great time. I had to change the hostel twice because there wher fully booked! Finally I went to the Pegasus. A great hostel... nice back yard, good service and cheep prices! The other hostels nearly doubled the prices for the world cup! We just payd 13 € for a dorm bed @ the Pegasus! Free internet access, free tours and a cool staff! They help me a lot and so I saved a lot of money! When ever I'll be back in Berlin - I'll back at the Pegasus!

I stayed here with 3 friends in September this year - we had a 4 bed room for €17 a night and it was clean, not too tiny and had it's own wash basin plus the bed were not bunk but 2 were on a rather cool mezzanine floor instead! The showers and bathrooms were clean and they worked.

The hostel staff were friendly and gave us some helpful information and guides to Berlin and a free walking tour company even pick up from reception. The hostel breakfast was in its sister restaurant and was so not worth the price tag - we ate from the local supermarket and a bakery every morning after that. The self catering kitchen was a bit of a mess but usable but there was also an Imbiss attached to the hostel with €3-€4 pizza and pasta - much easier!

The walk from the hostel to the Ostbahnhof was about 10 minutes and some places to visit can also be reached on foot. The metro ride to the centre was about 10 minutes.

The common room here was small but ok and the courtyard outside was great, there was also a rather bizarre basement where a Polish man was playing the trombone...

You can buy drinks at reception and there are vending machines on the stairs along with some scary paintings which came in handy.

I love Berlin and I certainly wouldn't mind staying here again when I come back

The location is nice, it's a quite area with easy access to the public transportation. The staff is very helpful and the building is very nice, clean and comfortable. Although they don't offer breakfast there is a kitchen available for use. They also give you a free drink coupon when you check in. Yeehaw. Lock boxes can fit a whole backpack too, which is nice.

Actually ended up staying here 2 nights instead of one cause we got kicked off our train to Prague since my friend forgot her pasport /sigh/. Pegasus made us feel right at home though. The twin room we stayed in was small but cosy and had its own wash basin.

The showers sucked though. Where normally I get to decide the tempurature of the water, these rebel showers decided to take that task upon themselves and quite enjoyed making the temp jump from freezing cold to boiling hot. They did have some trouble with the showers when we were there though, so perhaps that was just our bad luck and are the showers normally quite docile. I'll give 'm the benefit of the doubt, because of the supernice and helpfull staff.

I've never slept in a hostel with beds like Pegasus had. Every day at 4 I already started longing for my bed since it was such a nice one. Perfect place for those who are very, very tired. Still I doubted between 3 and 4 stars, because I had some trouble with the staff which made me feel real bad. I won't go into details, but I got into an argument twice without doing anything. It was just a stupid communication fault, probably caused by my poor German, but when I tried to explain that to them and make up with them, they stayed a little bit angry. I think the staff has had enough problems with backpackers to be a little suspicious, so I don't mind. But I have to say I sometimes felt like a 12-year old again, on camp, with the staff as my strict teachers.

There were 12 in our group, including kids from 18 months to 13 years, and we all had a great time here. We used 3 triples, a double, and a cot bed was helpfully provided. The reception staff were invariably friendly and helpful.

Beds are comfortable, rooms are freshly decorated and clean. They tend to be a generous size. The showers could be better designed (they're a bit cramped, with variable plumbing quality).

We stayed during exceptionally hot weather in Berlin, so the big courtyard that's enclosed by the hostel buildings was a godsend. The kids could run about while we enjoyed breakfasts and evening meals in the fresh air. Indeed, the courtyard is one of the best features of the place, and in one corner features an excellent restaurant that serves good-value breakfasts and meals if your budget will stand it.

The hostel kitchen is not impressive, but passable.

If you're flying into Schonefeld airport, and then using the transfer train to the Ostbahnhof, this hostel is really convenient. It's about 10 minutes walk from that station, or you can take the 340 bus which stops a few yards from the hostel.

I loved this place. Our room was very clean and the shower facilities were very nice. They had a nice kitchen to cook your own food in and in the morning we had fresh baked rolls at a cute little restaurant. I really like the atmosphere here and would definatly come back here again.

I absolutely don't agree with the guy who gave Pegasus

only 2 stars. During the last year (2002) I have been in

this hostel 3 times and there always was hot water

and the staff is very friendly and helpfull.

The rooms are very nice, the area is perfect, pretty quiet,

but still very good located near station Ostbahnhof and

underground U5. The atmosphere in Pegasus is almost

like in a hotel, quiet and no disturbing backpackers who

make a lot of noise.

This place is really recommended, much more than

Odysee Globetrotter or Sunflower, which are in the

same area (Odysee looks a bit shabby, allthough the

rooms are nice decorated, and Sunflower is not located

very well next to a wall and the train rails).

I also have seen Kalkscheune (near

Oranienburgerstrasse), where you have to walk 4 stairs

before reaching the reception and the same kind of

shabby atmosphere as Odysee.

Pegasus really looks much better than almost all other

hostels (only Circus on Rosa Luxembourg platz looks also

very good and is located in a better area) and has a

very nice and quiet atmosphere.

I stayed there, hard to find but once you do, you will never forget it. The building is beautiful, former jewish school. The staff is not too friendly, and no hot water (at that time- they said). it is in the former East Berlin area - close enough to the S or is it U bahn. But i would really consider another place over this one.
