I got into budapest around midnight from the last train i could find from vienna... i lived in budapest about 4 years back.. thought i knew my way around, but i let it up to the taxi driver... my first reaction was this place is shitty... it smells.. there are too many stairs, no one speaks english, and it doesn't even look like a hostel.. but you get what you pay for.. i dont' remember what i paid but it was cheap! everything was cheap in budapest... the food the beer the ciggerettes... and what was great about this hostel was the bar.. dont' go to europe if you wanna go to bed at 9 pm ... i met better friends in that bar downstairs than the person i was travelling with. the people at the desk ended up being really cool... i hope to visit next year. (though i admit i probably wouldn't stay there again... ) But it's definatly an awesome experiance... so why not?

This is definately the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. It is outrageously expensive, the furniture is old and the beds were literally on their last legs, the mixed shower facilities had no curtains and no shower heads, there was no toilet paper, no soap, no bins and no curtains over the windows in the room. The residentual students played seriously loud music until we marched to their door and shouted at them. My girlfriend like many other female reviewers for the Landler felt extremely uncomfortable using the showers, toilets and even walking down the corridors, where she was stared at by goups of young men. I hope you read these reviews before you book this... DON'T DO IT!

Don't go here the place is a nightmare looked good in the photos so I booked from the internet for three nights for three friends. There is a club underneth the building that plays loud music well past 12 at night impossible to sleep more than 5 hours. Did not go into the showers as they where without locks and shared between boys and girls. Great for sexual harrasement. The toilets had no paper and where also shared. Relised we had been conned when we went to Szentendre and had clean comfort and a great breakfast for nearly the same price at Bukkos Panzio, nearly wept! with anger.

One star is one star too many for this place. I'm still mad about it. First of all, it'll cost you 16 euro's per night, which is way too much anyway, but especially for a room with bugs, showers with a view (for the guys down the hall) and dirty toilets. I was actually SCARED for the first time. Whenever people come up to you in the train and present themselves as from the Tourist Office, saying they have all the information about ALL the hostels in Budapest - just wave them off. For example I was told that the Backpackers Hostel (the one with all the very good reviews, and it was a great place indeed) was fully booked. When I called the next morning we could easily get a bed there. Call me naive for being fallen into this trap, but I was very tired after a long trip and ready to sleep in anything. If only the rooms had been 5 euro's a night, it would have been acceptable (for 1 night). Just go to the Backpackers Hostel, like everybody else has done.

We where talked in this place by a blond (barbie) girl who told us she was from independend tourist information. It was late so we went with her to Landler. The reception girl was not friendly at all and it was expensive. It was a big and cold building. The rooms where dirty and had no atmosfere. As two girl's we didn't feel save at all. The showers where dirty and mixed without doors, so boys and girl's had to shower together with no privacy.there was no toiletpaper. I could go on like this for ages but the point is clear: Don't ever go to Landler!!!!!!
