This place have very nice. Good service, central location. The dorms rooms have 12 to a room though :S with its own bathroom. There was an issue with water going everywhere from the shower, but you had to change in the shower since they were unisex rooms.

Budapest has cheap accomodation, so this place is way too expensive for what you get.

...and it was very nice with its own bathroom. A bit loud as it overlooked the street, but basically pretty good. Breakfast was ok and they offered more than just bread. The attached bar was a bit of a mystery as they advertised food and live music - we tried eating there a few times but they were never serving food and the live music is best thought of as band practice. Decent enough location and the staff was pretty friendly. Nice outdoor area to sit and chill.

Great Ho(s)tel.

Kind of a cross between a hotel and a hostel with cool, friendly and more importantly helpful staff. Nice courtyard to chill in. Bar below hostel with different stuff going on nightly. Not far from all the action.

Bunks in Dorm Rooms have a curtain to corden off private area from the rest of the dorm, with large lockers for security. TV's in the triple and quad rooms. Clean Comfortable and reasonably priced hostel.

Took me a while to find this place, I reckon that was me and my bearings fault though, rather than the hostels.

I stayed in a dorm with 12 beds, though the 12 are seperated in 4 by curtains, the beds were comfy and all that.

Its got a bar/restaurant downstairs that I think has a pool table and serves resonably priced beer.

After staying in the grubbiest cheapest hostels Europe had to offer it was welcome relief to come to Marco Polo Hostel. A little expensive but worth it! The rooms were SO Clean. Nice fresh sheets- although the cleaners did take longer than stated to get our beds ready so we were left hanging around. Very private with your own cutained off bunk bed. Large personal locker. Great location. Too noisey late at night and early in morning. Our party had two medical emergencies and the staff were great, booking taxi's, phoning late night doctors, directing to the hospital! Really helpful. Dissappointing breakfast and entertainment facilities but great location for going out & clubbing so doesn't really matter.

Very clean building and polite staff. Dorms are neat and the beds are comfortable and I'm not going to complain I was the only male in a Large mixed Dorm (I'm sure the Ladies weren't impressed though). Close to alot pubs and shops and a short walk for local tours.

We stayed at this hostel for 3 nights, and it was really lovely.

The dorms are separated by curtains into sections containing two bunks which gives you all the privacy you want.

The beds were comfortable and the sheets were very clean.

The bathrooms were cleaned daily and the showers had full running hot water.

The hostels location is also good, about a 15 minute walk from the centre of budapest and a 5 minute walk to Keleti train station.

For comfort and security visit the Marco Polo!

We booked on line only to turn up and be rudely told that since they'd misread our booking we'd have to sleep seperately. The dorms themselves were clean and had big rucksack size lockers. The showers and toilets were also clean and worked well. Our room was supposed to be ready at 1200 but wasn't until gone 1600. The brochure lied - it advertised many things that the hostel didn't have such as a resturant serving food all day. We could have looked past all of this but not when we attempted to go to bed. The dorm rooms are directly above the hostels club which plays drum and bass until at least 0230 every morning. The hostel was also very expensive and the staff were unbelievably rude and the left luggage facilities weren't secure.

Go somewhere else.

I was there with an Italian friend not a long time ago... The staff was f**** unfriendly. They never smiled, It seemed as they don't enjoy their jobs and the hostel was really expensive. The breakfast was nothing to mention, just a poor breakfast! The rooms were nice and clean. We left the next day and we didn't either leave our bags there because we didn't want to come back and see their horrible unfriendly faces! The location is perfect!!!!!

Judging from the reviews so far, this hostel seems to have polarised views - but in my opinion it is neither great nor rubbish. It is run professionally, is clean with good facilities and a short walk from Keleti train station. On the downside it is quite expensive, the nights are noisy - with late arrivers and early risers - and it lacks the "character" of some other hostels. Whether it is for you depends on what your priorities are.
