I wanted to stay at this place based on the reviews I read here. Sounded perfect for my family. But I called each day for over a week and never got a person only a machine! I left my number, but to be on the safe side I still followed up with a call five more times. It's now been 10 days since I first called and still no response. Maybe they are away? The phone answers saying it is Flanigan's. I'm going to have to book elsewhere as we leave in a week, but I'm disappointed. Maybe they aren't aren't open at this time of the year - if so it would be a good idea to so note. I hope others have better luck.

This family run hostel, located in the traditional music capitol of Ireland, Doolin, Co. Clare has the best views in the village. Only a few minutes walk to two of the three pubs, in Doolin with views of the Clilffs of Mohar, a restored round tower, and a few minutes walk to the ruins of an 8th century church, it has nice, clean and comfortable dorm, individual, and family rooms.A large sitting room next to a warm fire offers a cozy atmostphere in which to make new friends, and a great place to relax after hiking through the burran, or up to the 700 ft cliffs of Mohar, or down to the Doolin pier in the summer for ferry boats to the Aran Island, only a few miles off shore. It also features a large kitchen with washers and dryers, and facilities for cooking. Located in the rolling hills of the burren, a 100 sq. mile area of limestone, you would be treated to some of the most beautiful scenery in Ireland. In the evening, a liesurly 3 minute stroll takes you to McDermotts pub, or McCann's located just accross the road. A third pub, O'connor's is located another 5 minute walk from these pubs. All three are home to the best treditional musicians in Ireland, and all three feature good food at cheap pricesOne more thing going for this hostel is the owners, Gerard and Diane Flanagan, and thier little girls.Gerard is a natural storyteller and can weave a great tale of the goings on and the history and legends of the area.As a matter of fact, his fields contain an 8000 yr old ring fort and he is well versed in all of the old ruins in the area.To sum up, beautiful area, comfortable rooms, friendly hosts, cute kids, a great place to spend a few nights while heading for the pubs for music, or to the cliffs, or burren for hiking.

The hostel is located just a three minute walk away from the two main pubs of Doolin and bus lines to other larger cities and area attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher, and the Doolin Pier. It is very well kept and offers a variety of sleeping accomodations from rooms with one double bed to "family size" dorm style rooms that can sleep eight. Access to food storage and stove are also available.Your hosts Diane (an American) and Buddy (Irish through and through) are as friendly as can be, and knowledgable of the area. A resident of the Doolin area his entire life, Buddy is full of stories of growing up in this beautiful, ocean-side area. And their two children are cute to boot.An inexpensive stay in a truly gorgeous area, I will surely return and stay with Diane and Buddy again.
