This is the worst hostel i have ever stayed in. The paint was peeling off the walls, the bathrooms were absolutely filthy and the people who work their are complete idiots. As for heating...there is none...there are heaters they just are never turned on.What was promised to take one hour for our washing to be done ended up taking all night......pity our pyjamas were in there to be washed. To add insult to injury when i politely asked how much longer it would take i received an abusive answer. I could not recommend this hostel in a million years and wonder how they are even allowed to remain open.

I spent a week at Kinlay House Hostel in Cork and it was brilliant. It was all very basic but they offered extremely good service. I shared a en-suite twin room and it was really nice. The fact that breakfast was included was great as it meant that you could grab some tea and toast in the morning before you headed out (meaning that was one less meal to pay for). Internet access was great too, meant could keep up to date with mates and family. The hostel itself is just up a hill (not too bad to walk up if you find the best route) just around the corner there is a little shop though so no need to go into town for extra food - unless you want to make great use of the fabulous English Market. Even when there was a problem with the room we were staying in the staff dealt with us well and efficiently too. The hostel was used by young and old and even families and is great value for money! I enjoyed my stay, I hope you do too and definitely think about using one of their one in Dublin when I travel back to Ireland again (which I hope I don't have to wait too long for).

We staying Kinlay House and found it quite quant, with very helpful staff. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm with private facilities. The in-room facilities consisted of a shower, sink etc. Which was great and very clean.Breakfast was included and consisted of Toast (and spreads), Tea, Coffee, Juice.Car Parking could be a problem if you arrive late, as there isn't much room, but we managed in the end. Finding the place was a little difficult also. It's about a 5-7 minute walk to the City Centre.

I stayed at this hostel a couple of months ago and had no problems with it. It was clean and roomy and basic, but I those are qualities that I can appreciate. I was afraid that the location would turn out to be too far away from the bus/rail but it wasnt a problem at all. We took a taxi to the hostel and then had a pleasant walk to the center. They had one of the best features I have ever seen there, too. A taxi phone. You pick up the receiver and it automatically connects you to the taxi company. Ingenious. All in all, I would stay here again.

Very kind staff, and an excellent location! I loved the location, it was ideal for walks at dusk and getting some nice homemade sweets! I stayed in a room with 13 other girls, and even then, it was incredible! Loved the breakfast every morning, although I've had enough beans to last me a lifetime! Only complaint was that there were upwards of 50 of us sharing 3 showers and 3 toilets...

My mate and I had a terrible time locating this hostel. It is not all to far from the city centre but there is not a big selectin on entertainment nearby. Inside there are some TV rooms for backpackers to watch movies and internet. This hostel does not supply towels so make sure that you have yours! Breakfast was the standard, bread and juice and the staff was friendly. For my one night stay this hostel suited my needs.

I was starting to get a bit concerned that Cork hostels were fully booked out when I called around, so I was pleased when a friendly voice told me that two beds were available in Kinlay House. The room that we were in looked really new and the bathroom was spotless. My only complaint would be about the lumpy pillow I had. After having a couple of bad experiences with B & B's, I have decided that staying in a hostel is much more sociable and enjoyable.
