Well, after reading the other reviews, it seems unfair. A hostel isn't along the same lines as a B&B so maybe the showers aren't great but this is what one should expect. I went there with a group of 40 and found the place a great laugh. The instructors were very friendly and co-operative and i enjoyed their company( esp. DAVE and MARK!). The atmosphere was friendly but don't expect them to come to your every whim. They see too many people come through Russagh Mills to worry about a cobweb here and there..

However, i must say it isn't the cleanest of places i have stayed in but they made up for it in their activities. LOVED IT! Can't wait to go again!

I spent one night there. I don't have the words to describe the place.

The bedlinen wasn't changed cause there where crisps, hairs and a lot of stuff on the sheets, the pillows had a bad smell and the matrass was a leftover from historical times.

I never had a shower there cause i would ended dirtier than before (not a nice thought after the 3km walk from the busstop). The toilets were blocked, there where used hygienic towles on the floor.

I payed 23 Euro for the private room, but if i have the desire to spend a night in such conditions i can stay on a bench on Dublins Dorsett street, cause this is free!

i booked to stay at the russagh hostel last sunday night but when i got there it was no more than an out building with pots on the floor to catch the water leaking from the roof, there was no locks on the door so when i went out my stuff was unsafe, the man told me that only one shower was working and only had one temp.the man told me on the phone that it was 1 mile out of town but it was much further and was fast and winding road with no foot path and being a female and on my own would not like to walk it at night.when i looked in the bed it had marks on the sheets and somebody elses hair in it.i did not want to stay there and walked straight out for the long walk back in to town but thank god two gentlemen gave me a lift and took me to a bb which was very nice.it was cold and very dark and dingy

that I should have continued on to Marie's Schoolhouse, I knew within a short time that this was a mistake. The Aventure Centre bit is the giveaway; there's an attitude that goes with them and the type of blokes (my glorious fellow countrymen in this case) that run them. Showers hazardous, if you could get them to work. And it bewilders me, that, if you know you are going to have a hard partying crew of people down from Dublin for the weekend, putting other punters wishing to sleep above them. You are, also, if without transport, a way out from anything interesting and I wouldn't recommend walking that narrow, fast road at night. Have I dissed this place sufficiently. See my review of Marie's Schoolhouse.
