I have visited Corcreggan Mill on at least three occasions. When I have had a hard week studying at university in Belfast, the beautiful scenery of Dunfanaghy beckons. The Patrick Gallagher bus from Belfast drops us outside the door at 8pm on a Friday night, and a relaxing weekend begins. We set our rucksacks beside the wooden bunk beds in the renovated train carriage, and rest our heads for a second. Then we get up to make some tea in the kitchen, and drink it beside the turf fire, which is constantly ablaze. Then we set to work on dinner, which we make from stuff bought in the local shop. We might pop out to the nearest pub one mile away in Dunfanaghy town, but there really is no need. The cosy living room and kitchen set the scene for some good old-fashioned craic, and the lack of TV is a welcome break and a good conversation booster. We wake up next day with the sound of the birds tweetering and have a hot shower before breakfast. Then we start our walk to the Donegal beaches. Believe me, you don't get any more Irish than this.

Have stayed in this hostle now several times while working in the area I have found it to be very comfortable and the present owner Brendan to be very helpfull. Stayed in an old converted railway carriage which has doublebed rooms and rooms with 2 bunkbeds all very comfortable. There is a very good communial room with large peat burning stove very nice to return too after an evening of sampling the local pubs and eating houses there is a well kept kitchen at the mill but the pub grub in the area is outstanding.

In summer 2002 I stayed couple of nights in this hostel. It was one of the best hostels I ever have. I recommed this hostel for people who are traveling in Donegal county.
