BUG Review
Globetrotter's is a brilliant hostel that is famous for its big Irish breakfasts. The building has loads of character with stained glass and features comfy furniture and bright, warm colours. Accommodation is in clean dormitories with solid custom-built bunk beds with thick inner spring mattresses and en suite bathrooms. Shared facilities include a good TV lounge, kitchen, a huge dining area and a nice courtyard.

I stayed at Globetrotters after a crazAY week hostel hopping and recovering from various types of hangovers. Good Lawd! was it a nice little break. I was the only person in my 6-bed dorm two nights in a row which was a little lonely but so nice for sleeping and healing the zombie like appearance I had assumed. To abuse some exaggeratory (word?) catchphrases from the early 90's...the beds were MEGA comfy, with reading lamps and handy shelves for clock storage, the bathrooms were clean and stlyish TO THE MAX, the showers--TOTALLY AWESOME! And the decor? Very ULTRA-hip and fashionable. Nice lime green reception room! Also, I was able to catch up with my friends at Bayside on Saved by the Bell in the also highly stylish TV room. Oh and I haven't even mentioned the RADICAL FREE breakfast which is supplied by the adjoining B&B. It's pretty awesome to be the only greasy backpacker in seedy looking sweats and Spiderman T-shirt in a room full of respectable middle class vacationing families, and the lady who ran the breakfast show was pretty understanding and nice about it too. None of that "take your eggs and relieve our establishment of your filth" business here. And all of this for only about 5 Euros more than your average hostel in the city centre. 19 Euros a night I believe, and it was worth every one of those annoying little 2 Cent Euro coins I had to scrounge up to pay and irritated the very nice and accomodating gentleman at reception with. STAY HERE COOL DUDES!*Small Inconveniece:No Kitchen. But this only helped me to rediscover the accessible and passionate love affair I have with Pop Tarts.

I agree with the guy who says this place is really more of a B and B rather than a backpackers. The building is georgous and the rooms are clean and warm. By far the best thing about this place is their absolutely HUGE breakfasts- its a giant buffet with virtually every breakfast food you could want. However, there isnt a kitchen- which means you have to eat out in expensive dublin restaurants and the staff were kind've snooty, you got the feeling they were only nice to the customers in the hotel on the other side who were paying more money. There wasnt really a common room either, just a few couches in the coldest part of the hostel so no one hung out there. And even though the rooms were clean they had hardly any space between the beds so we were constantly tripping over each others bags. Also they won't do luggage storage for more than a day, or recieve mail for you while you travel around - a service almost every other hostel seems to manage to do without even thinking about it.

The hostel is very clean and beds are really comfortable, with night lamps and shelves. Rooms are quite cosy and showers inside bedrooms are clean, as well as the bathroom itself. The breakfast is just WONDERFUL and the inside garden is very nice. Security codes for the rooms make us feel better when leaving the room. nice location (8 min walk to O'Connell St) and Airbus.

this hostel is actually connected to a hotel. the staff is really very friendly. there are good common areas, and a garden. the security is great and i felt really safe. every room had a toilet and bunks but they were great because they were wood and you couldn't feel other people moving around all night. lights go out at 11 but you get a light so you can see and a trunk under the bed for your stuff. plus you get a huge breakfast every day and can go to the kitchen for cafe and tea whenever you want

One of THE best hostels in which I've stayed! I was here in both summer '99 and winter '03 and had great experiences on both occasions. Hostel is conveniently located near Busarus (the bus station), Connolly Train Station, and Temple Bar (5-10 min walk across the river). Rooms are clean with fresh linens--large beds even have reading lights, drawers, and shelves. Only possible drawback might be sharing one ensuite shower between 12 people. Front desk staff is cheerful (as they share space with a hotel next door) and the included full Irish breakfast cannot be beat (bacon, sausage, toast, cereal, tea, juice, etc.). The price is slightly higher than other hostels but the friendliness, cleanliness, location, and security make it worth the price. Beds inevitably fill up fast here so call ahead...and have a great time!

This place was pretty bloody amazing considering I've spent five times the price on staying in a hotel which offered no reception and a rubbish breakfast. Here I had a supremely comfy bed and the best breakfast you could ask for. They may not offer any lockable storage space, but it's there if you ask for it. If you're looking for your typical hostel experience of meagre tea and toast and lumpy beds, it may pay to stay elsewhere.

I thought this hostel was GREAT!!! Breakfast was incredible compared to the "continental breakfasts" you get at other hostels. It was a full Irish breakfast buffet. I also enjoyed the en suite rooms. The beds were very CLEAN and very COMFORTABLE. There's a local bus that stops right in front of the hostel that takes you to the airport. No need to spend 3 times as much for the airport shuttle which is a 5-10min walk away. The only problem is there are no lockers in the rooms or anywhere else.

The place is fine if all you want is a bed and breakfast - There is no Kitchen. OK if you have Euro's to spend on meals out. The 41 bus from the airport takes you almost directly to the hostel Euro1.45 compared with Euro5 for the other busses.

This place could be one of the world's best hostels but... The location is great, the beds are fantastic, and the breakfast is out of this world. The showers are luke warm. The reception - pompus. There is no common space now because they are rennovating. They say. Then again they also said the beds were £12 pounds, then 30min. later after I checked out of another hostel £12 became £13. No big deal but it makes it hard to trust and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. So, now there is no place to be. I arrived at 9:00am and was told (after I paid) I couldn't come in untill 2:00pm! In the middle of winter! Then the lights go off in our rooms at 9:00pm. Not exactly a "fun" place to hang out.

Excellent value for money, with sturdy, capacious non-squeaky beds, and a first rate breakfast included in the price. The breakfast area is shared with the posh Townhouse B&B next door, and you get the same breakfast as the punters there. One thing to bear in mind if booking on-line is that your confirmation may not show that they crank up the prices at the weekend (in summer at least). The difference is only a couple of quid, but may cause friction when booking in. The staff say this isn't the fault of the hostel, but of the booking agency. Another minor gripe is that you're not issued with a key to the outside door, you have to ring the door bell for it to be answered by the sometimes less than attentive receptionist. This is not a major hassle though (reception is manned 24 hours), and does arguably improve security.Overall a fine hostel in a handy location that I would have no hesitation in recommending.
