never been in YHA before where you have to RENT your saucepan!in area full of dealers and less salubrious people. very peculiar locals(room invaders)lots of guest workers, not travellers, no pubs, cafes, restaurants for a mile or so - unsafe to walk at night.gloomy building, eerie corridors for long walk to ladies' loo.The whole thing right out of a 30s horror movie. Yecch.

This hostel maybe well-equiped and orginaized, but it's location is bad: far in the Northen part of the city, about 15 min walking from the centre, in a deserted, and sometimes scary (for girls, especially) to walk in, area.

There are much better hostels for this price (16 Euro FOR MEMBERS).

when we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful and more than willing to give us a bit of advice on what to do in dublin. as there had been 5 of us we had hired out a whole dorm. the dorm was really nice (although the bunks sqeaked constantly if on the top bunk) and there was a sink in the room, which was really nice. the lack of ladies bathrooms was a bit of a problem - we had to go down 2 flights of stairs to get to a toilet. the one thing me and my friends were annoyed about was that the games room is the designated smoking room. we went down to play a game of pool and were almost suffocated - there are no windows and the room stinks! Thankfully it is the only room in which smoking indoors is allowed. the hostel is near Dublin city centre (about 1km walk) and does a free brekkie as well. It was nice and clean and if I had to stay in a hostel in Dublin again, I would stay here.
