My traveling companion was not impressed with this hostel and found it a little dark and scary, but I was okay with it. We had a huge room, but we also had 13 other people in it so it had to be big to accommodate all of us. The bathroom was ensuite and we encountered the best showers of our trip. They were magnificent. The kitchen wasnt all that great, but they did have a nice common area and a pool table. Beds were basic wooden twins with the same duvet that every other Ireland hostel has. Location next to the bus station was perfect and the walk to the center and to Temple Bar was a nice, if long, one.

This was our second Dublin Hostel and they managed to find us a room for the whole of our stay even though we had not booked in advance. There is no curfew, the security is two fold, you are given a swipe card to access the corridors and your room which works for 24hours only at which point it must be reset, in order to get your card reset however you have to present a paper id card which you are given on arrival. All the beds are numbered and while some people take the numbering system very seriously others just take which ever beds are free, the latter system seems to work a lot better than the former. The rooms are very clean with the sheet changing and toilet cleaning fairy visiting every day. There is a shower and toilet in every 12 person room as well as extra facilities for general use (if you get desperate). On the ground floor is a kitchen area and common room as well as a café area (Boca js) where breakfast is served and you can buy proper coffee (espresso, latte, cappuccino) and other food. Linen is free, while cooking equipment and secure storage can be hired. There is entertainment nearly every night as well as plenty of space to chill, meet people and talk. Definitely worth a visit.

I stayed at the Jacob's Inn Hostel during the summer while on a backpacking trip through Ireland, on arrival I was made to wait 2 hours with my luggage because the staff told me that my room wasn't ready? How hard is it to change a bed? when I asked if I could leave my things there and go out to look around they told me that they coouldn't take my things till I was checked in! The fact that I had pre-booked this accomadation didn't seem to matter after a few more incidents I decided to check out 3 days early and found a much nicer Hostel Barnecles in Temple Bar would advise people to use Jacobs Inn Hostel only as a last resort.

This big hostel is next to the Busaras bus station. Staff is very much aloof and unfriendly. Dorm was clean but showers were disgusting. 18 euros per night in weekend and 11 euros per night in week in a 10 beds dorm. Very noisy by night. No storage place in the room but lockers in common area. Bed was comfortable. Very little breakfast included: a tea or a coffee and 2 toasts (YOU HAVE TO PAY if you want jam or something to put on it !!!!!!!!!!!). Cheap fare internet access near the hostel (1 euro/20 minutes).

This hostel was more like a hotel than a hostel. The staff were not friendly, and the backpackers kept to themselves. The total atmosphere was sterile, and not friendly whatsoever

Not to mention the dorms, being awoken several times by noisy guests. Never again

As a well travelled backpacker, this has been one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in. The rooms are huge with plenty of space for storage. The bathrooms are so nice and clean...it's like living at home with mum. Price was ok. But it's worth paying a little extra for large, comfortable beds. Even though there was 10 in my room, it was so hugh it didn't feel like it. It's more like staying in a hotel. Check out the movie nights while you are there. Good to chill out and relax and meet other travellers. Great hostel. 5 stars definately.

I stayed here in an ensuite, double room. It was very nice- there was one double and one single bed and two sinks in the bathroom (though I think it wasn't cleaned very well after the last occupants). They also gave you towels. Everything is by key card access, including the lift. Unfortunately, however, if you are staying in a dorm, there seemed to be only 1 shower and toliet per floor. There are large storage lockers for 1.50 euro per day. There is a free muffin and juice for breakfast, but they also serve a large Irish breakfast if you pay. The kitchen seemed pretty nice, but the lounge was pretty lacking in furniture and activity. The staff was helpful and there was a cheap internet cafe right around the corner.

Located right near the Bus station, this hostel is a very big building, well-secured and equiped, vey crowded. The room i shared wasn't cleaned, and so were the corridors. No breakfast.
