This concrete building, a couple of minutes walk to the town centre, has clean accommodation but it feels dated with old lino floors and old furnishings and it could be spruced up a bit. Facilities include a kitchen and dining area with a TV. Richard, the manager, has a lot of knowledge about the Connemara region.
Price Dorm bed €13.50-15 Double room €36-40 Prices are in local currency and are inclusive of all taxes.
Unfortunately we only got to stay in Clifden for one day but Richard gave us a very warm welcome. The dorms are very simple but clean and large, although you may have to make your own bed. Loads of off street parking and only a couple of minutes walk into the centre of town.

We stayed at the brookside hostel for about 5 days and had the best time. Not only is the brookside located in a lovely area of Ireland, Richard, the proprietor of the hostel is the nicest person you could imagine. He spent over a half hour drawing us a personalized map of the area and suggesting all tyoes of places we whould visit. Every day we spent there, we spent a good portion of our time talking with Richard about where we visited. On a rainy day, Richard offered to dry our wet clothes for us and upon our departure, he sent us off like family. If you go to Clifden, I highly recommend staying here.
