BUG Review
Clifden Town Hostel is a wonderful hostel with a nice cosy lounge area and two small kitchens. It is a clean and comfortable place to stay and there are lovely river views from some rooms. They sometimes close in winter so it's best to call ahead if you're travelling between November and March.

I stayed here in October 2001. It was a great place to relax. The view from the back is gorgeous. The owners were very friendly and helpful with getting about town etc. Clean and well kept and the kitchen worked great. It's great to travel off season, I had the room to myself.

Nice hostel, next to the bus stop. Friendly staff. Clean. Kitchen too small. Very nice town. Close to the sky road and the beach. Recommended!

I do not agree with the previous review. I visited the place two times and the last time I went there, I figured out that I should have camped on the campside in Clifden. The house is ok, it is all new, all very clean and not much to complain about. But: It is even cleaner than at home, I don't like people hoovering the carpet while I have my breakfast at the 'normal' breakfast-time, the beds are too soft and the staff was extremly snobbish and quite rude.

So it is ok for a stay, but definitly not the place to be in Ireland.

The clifden town hostel is a small hostel with some (more expensive) 2 bed rooms and several rooms with like 3 or 4 double beds. The people who run this hostel are extremely friendly, you really feel like a family. There is nothing good or bad to say about the rooms - just normal with not much more than the beds. The showers are quite nice. On the top floor there is a kitchen where you can cook and eat, a good place to chat with other people. Nice view from there, too. A bit disturbing are the washing machines and the dryers which are running almost all the time. There is one more kitchen downstairs beside the large sitting room, which reminds you of on old fashioned living room. You can go hiking in the mountains there (the "twelve bens") and the sea is not too far away either.

All in all a nice hostel in a beautiful part of Ireland. I stayed there in the summer of 2001.
