BUG Review
This big 300-year-old concrete house offers views to the sea and was originally built as a hunting lodge and served as a soup kitchen during the Potato Famine. It is on the Dingle-Tralee road about a 20-minute walk to the town centre.

Oh, this place is so neat. A 200 year old manor house with a view of the ocean. Sure, it doesnt have Internet and its a long, long walk to the town of Dingle, but what atmosphere and character. I love the rooms with their fireplace and the chandelier in the main hall and the rolling little hills surrounding it. Truly a magical place. Of course, getting back and forth can be a problem, but there is a van that hauls people around after dark.

I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights last August and I really enjoyed it. I had a car so it was easy to get to the centre of Dingle..so for those of you without cars, theres a bit of walking involved. I stayed in a double room, and although it was pricey (about the same price as a B&B except no breakfast here) the condition of the room was excellent. It was clean, warm and very cosy.

Stayed here in May 03 with a tour group. The manor looks small from the front, but is actually quite large, with a courtyard in the center. It was very cozy for it's size and didn't have a hostel feel to it at all. Stayed in an 8-bed dorm, in a large, bright room with lots of fresh air. Toilets and showers are located in the room, and the water is hot. The manor has a large common room and an equally large TV room, with lots of seating. Kitchen facilities are available, with lots of dining space...one of the dining areas has a coin-operated pool table. Laundry facilities are available, too. It's a bit of a walk into Dingle, but with the beautiful scenery, you hardly notice. Make sure to have a flashlight if you're walking at night.

Although I was actually a camper at this Hostel, I still got a good feel for the Hostel. Situated in the heart of the most beatiful part of Ireland with the most helpful and friendly staff! They were very keen to help with my proposal plans, so a very big thanks to all. In hostelling terms I just about prefer the little independant one I visited in Montreal, but this one is a close second! You will feel very welcome and it is only a short 15 minute walk outside of the town, so not too far. The hostel is the perfect base for touring the Dingle penisula by cycle (or by car)!

My husband and I traveled all over Ireland and this was our favorite. Dingle is an amazing place and this hostel was just a fabulous! Staying here was like going back in time. With the cobblestone courtyard and beautiful ceilings it was hard to forget you were in a 300 yr old manor. The grounds are beautiful and the staff was quite friendly. I would highly recommend this hostel to other travelers.

This is a 300 year old manor house, complete with exquisite crown moldings and ceiling medallions plasterworks. I could easily picture this place as an upscale hotel! A bit out of town, but with glorious views. They have a minibus to take you into and out of town.

Stayed here in summer of 01... loved the hostel--beautiful building--rooms were cozy as well... as a backpacker, long walks are never ruled out... however, I wasn't too keen on the idea of trying to get into town at night when dusk is settling and cars are hurtling down the road... other than that--wonderful! :-)

This is one of the nicest hostels in Ireland, just above Dingle with a great view, very cosy and atmospheric. The staff were very friendly, and the walk into Dingle was only 10 minutes, but bring a torch!

I stayed in this hostel with a friend during the August weekend, a very popular wkend in Dingle. We were put in a nice room with 2 bunk beds (sleeps 4), there was a bathroom with shower attached too. The hostel was lovely, the only drawback being the fact that it was a little outside Dingle, but they run a mini-bus into the town every so often, you could walk if you wanted though.
