I have stayed in the Rainbow on many occasions and have always found the staff friendly and welcoming. The hostel has recently been totally renovated and is in superb condition. The hostel is always very clean and well maintained. The kitchen facilities are excellent and the turf fire in the main kitchen adds charm. There is also a free shuttle bus to and from Dingle, but the walk into the town is quite nice itself. I would recommend the Rainbow as the place to stay for anyone who will be visiting the area.

I stayed at the rainbow last week and the place is a palace. They have just reopened after major renovations.

Hot showers, new beds and a new stove in the huge kitchen.

This is an excellent hostel for sociability, but it was disappointing in some ways. 'Just outside Dingle' is actually a 20-minute walk, some of it along an unlit road without sidewalks. The kitchen is well-equipped and there are large tables giving opportunities to chat, but the room was a little dark (partly because of the dull wet weather), giving a slightly depressive feel. The hostel has suffered an unfortunate underfloor water leak, causing the 'shiny polished floors' (which are actually wood-effect lino) in the hallways to break up into a permanently wet mess. A substantial repair is planned as soon as the season is over. Otherwise, it was kept very clean. The staff kept to themselves, though were very helpful when asked. My biggest annoyance was that the gas was off in the morning and we could not cook or heat anything (just kettles and toasters were working); the manager said that they turn it off at midnight for safety, which is fine, but it's not reasonable for it to stay off without any notice until the staff arrive after 9am. (On our second morning, I knew where to turn it on again!) So: scope for some improvement.

This hostel has the joy of a country house with large kitchen where the social lfe revolves. Owner and staff keep it clean and provide shuttle service into town when the buses arrive and depart. It is a nice walk into Dingle with some of the most beautiful landscape in Ireland

I am a travelling surfer from cork, and spend allot of time travelling up and down the west coast of Ireland looking for surf, and so stay in a fair share of hostels, and in all my travels The rainbow Hostel has got to be one of the nicer hostels around the country. For me there are three very important features in a hostel.

1. That the beds are comfortable.

2. That the showers are good.

3. That there is a good vibe at the hostel.

The Rainbow Hostel comes out on tops in all three of these departments. The staff are very nice and extremely helpful and they are well able to answer any questions on any of the local sights and sounds or where is good to get a bite to eat. The kitchen in the hostel is well equip and there is plenty of space for everyone to cook their own food. I found that in the evenings there is a great atmosphere in the kitchen with lots of people of different nationalities cooking their own food, eating and socialising together, which is something that I have not seen in many hostels around Ireland. The rooms are cosy and I have always had a very good night sleep very comfortable beds.

I have stayed at two of the other hostels in Dingle and the Rainbow is definitely the place to stay.

From the moment I stepped off the bus at the dock until I left, I felt at home at the Rainbow Inn. A short walk into town, it is quiet, homey, and comfortable. The kitchen is huge and makes for a pleasant meal around a huge table like being with family. Well run, friendly and clean, this was the best part of staying in Dingle. I stayed for 3 days. Don't miss morning tea looking out over the bay in the misty quiet.
