Lovely hostel to stay in. Very friendly and two dinning rooms with big lounge and info on what to do.

Lots of cooking spots (cooking gas points) in the kitchen. Lots of space to store food.

Free coffee and tea which went down very well!!

Outside town but very close to all supermarkets and excellent for travelling around in the area.

Would definately recommend to families travelling Ireland!

My husband and I stayed at this hostel in June, 2006. We originally planned to stay for two nights, ended up staying three and wish that we could have stayed longer. It was a great base to tour the Dingle and Beara Peninsulas. The hostel was conveniently located right on the edge of town, within walking distance to the public library where they offer free internet access to visitors or across the street from the PO where there is a small charge. We had a rental car and were able to park right behind the hostel. A SuperValu is right down the street and has wonderful scones and Irish bread. The kitchen facilities were great--there was a lot of storage space available and an AGA stove. We spent a lot of time just walking in the area around the hostel--it is a beautiful spot and a beautiful town. I wish that we could have stayed for much longer and I wish that we could go back every year for a visit. I highly recommend the Kenmare Failte Hostel!

I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and although a little cramped it was comfortable and warm. There are very good private rooms with en suite. There is a common room with local history and travel books available. The kitchen is small but very cosy and clean, with complimentary tea/coffee/milk. You can stay there and cook for as long as you please on their gas hobs and the big oil fired AGA. The owner (Mrs Finnegan - I think) is typically 'Kerry friendly' and will answer any of your questions. She is obviously very proud of her well run hostel. She also owns the souvenir shop across the road, AND hires out bicycles. There are clothes washing and drying machines. Cars must be parked out on the road but this is not a problem. There is plenty of safe parking for bikes or motorcycles in the yard. It is three minutes walk to the town square and 2 minutes from the excellent Lime Tree restaurant. Perfect for the Kenmare walking festival which is held from 29th May to 6th June. The cost includes your bed, as many showers as you like and as much gas as it takes to create your favourite gourmet meal !! There are loads of pubs and restaurants to explore all within a few minutes walk.

Give it a lash you won't be sorry.
