Neptune's is a big centrally located hostel in the centre of Killarney. Some rooms, such as the doubles, are of a very high standard but the regular dorms are nothing special. Facilities include a small TV lounge, free Internet access and a basic kitchen (no oven) and the atmosphere feels a little institutional.

Okay, I had no problems whatsoever at Neptunes!! Met great people - great staff - great facilities, and to be honest - it is a definate destination on my next trip!!! The facility is EXCELLENT!!! Centrally located to everything, HOWEVER, it's a bitch of a walk from the bus station!!! Not too bad though!!!

I highly recommend Neptunes though!!!! It was my fav!!!

I stayed in the Neptunes Hostel with 9 other people on March 3rd until we checked out on March 5, 2005.

There were only a couple of other people in the hostel and I had an 8 person room for myself and my friend Andy while the 8 girls of our group stayed in another 8 person room.

The rooms are basic but clean with a partial room divider in the middle of the room.

The bathrooms are gender separate and both have 2 showers and 2 sinks. The showers are small but the water pressure is strong.

There is a tv room with local channels and you can ask the front desk to play VHS movies for you to watch.

Also in the tv room there are a few bookshelves and various other reading material for your enjoyment.

There is a separate telephone room as well with one phone for local type calls and one for international calls.

There is an internet terminal available for free but it was broken when I was there.

The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, an oven and four gas burners and there is a refridgerator for leftovers, just be sure to label what's yours.

The front desk staff is fairly helpful and friendly and will be happy to give you a map of the town or give you directions to the town information office.

The hostel is located in the center of the town and only about 100-200meters from the town cathedral.

Me and a friend stayed at this hostel for a few nights and I'm really glad we did. Upon arriving, we checked in and walked in to our room. The thing looked like a disaster, the other guests staying there were not very clean, and the room was too small for 6 bunks. We immediatly walked out and asked if they had anything else. The receptionist gave us a 4 bed dorm instead, this time the room was empty, everything was clean, showers were very warm with great water pressure (ideal for after hiking or biking) beds were too small for me, yet it was comfortable and I got some very good sleep. The security is great and the kitchen area is spacious and welcoming - in other words Cook your own food! there's no reason not to, Tesco Supermarket is across the street, literally! The receptionist were super friendly, i wish i would have got the name of the one lady who waited on us, true irish hospitality and sincere too. I don't know about any other hostels in Killarney but this is a safe bet. I would stay here again.

Neptunes is right in the centre of Killarney town and five minutes away from the bus and train stations. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the cooking facilities are more than adequate. The staff are very friendly and helpful and tours can be booked directly with the hostel. the hostel is located next to a bike hire store and it is only two minutes walk from killarney national park.

We staying at Neptunes and a 6 Dorm room with private facilities.

Breakfast was 2.50 Euros, which consisted of 3 slices of toast, spreads, juice or coffee. (No milk provided) but there are okay cooking facilities and crockery.

There is free internet, although it's effectively useless, so don't try and write an email cause it's on a 6 minute timer, after which it decides to display an advert and you'll lose everything. Frustrating if you're typing a email to friends or family.

Neptunes is very, very central though, although you won't find parking here. There are some around, we parked nearby (500m) in a Cathedral car park for the night, but had to be gone by 8:30 to avoid a ticket.

The staff were very helpful also.

I have stayed in hostels all over the world and this hostel was by far one of the best. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms cosy and comfortable and most importantly the bathrooms really clean. Everything I needed for a big group meal was in the kichen and our day trips were organised by the staff. Great base for a good night out in Killarney!! I highly recommend this place

Neptunes was a little hard to find at first, but it makes an excellent home base to explore Killarney. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The kitchen and den was very large, and the beds were comfortable.

Neptunes has better staffing and services then the other hostels in town, though it seems to lack some character.

It also located next to a large bike rental, which is very convienent. The only negative is its rather far from the bus stop.

Neptune's (and Killarney in general) is a great place to stay. The rooms were clean, en suite, and large enough to be comfortable. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The kitchen is huge. There isn't a curfew, but you do need a security pass to get in after 3 a.m. Neptune's was by far one of the best hostels I've stayed in and I've been to a number of them.

in center of Killarney town (don't get confused with New street versus New Road...It took us a while to FIND the place!) But once there, very enjoyable hostel in a great town! Staff is very helpful. Good place to get laundry done for you!
