after 2 months of travelling through europe, i have swtayed in many hostels (around 16) of varying standard. I would have to say that this is absolutely the worst hostel i have ever visited. I have stayed in tents at campsites that are of a better standard than this hostel. Firstly, the HI site says it is 200m from the station, which would have been true if i had wings and was able to fly over the train tracks, direct to the front door. Average humans however, have to walk to the underpass, then attempt to cross the busy road that also passes under the train lines, then walk up the twisting deserted road that leads up the hill to the hostel (not a place that any female would like to be alone at night, especially in naples). After hiking up the hill, you are greeted (if they can be bothered to acknowledge you) by the surliest, laziest and most unfriendly staff i have ever come across. The rooms do not have locks, and considering the lack of interest that the staff show, i was worried about people just walking into rooms and taking my stuff. The bathroom in the room was absolutely filthy, the toilet had no tiolet seat, the shower drain was blocked (again the staff were too lazy to do anything about this), the matress was so thin i might as well have slept on the wooden base and i woke up in the morning with ants crawling all over me. the laundry facilities, advertised on the HI website were non existant, and no one could tell me where else i could do washing.So, despite being booked in for 4 nights, i decided to check out. the guy at the desk was incredibly rude and would not give me any refund. I told him that he couldn't pay me enough money to stay another minute in the dump, and left. This hostel is an absolute dump. I have stayed in 2 other HI hostels (luxembourg and hamburg) which were sterile, but at least clean with staff that were mostly friendly and actually did some work.this hostel is an absolute disgrace to the HI name and has made me completely lose faith in the HI name. the owners of this place should be ashamed of the deplorable condition of the hostel and the horrble staff.As i said, you couldn't pay me to stay in this dump, so do yourself a favour and book elsewhere (my personal suggestion is 6 small rooms).

we stayed there for a few days-its okay, but dont think about sleep! its too loud outside-cars, trains and partypeople...so get drunken before you go to bed ;-)outside the hostel there were lots of cats and dogs and first i was in panic after ready about fleas and bugs-but there were "only" lots of mosquitos and some ants...the rooms were clean (cleaned every day) and had their own bathrooms (some with disgusting odour)...dont forget your toilet paper when using the toilets on the floor ;-) the hostel was under renovation when we stayed there, but it doesnt matter. the staff were okay, but the breakfast is only a little roll and a cup of tea or coffee (try the "paninis" at the bakery)...naples itself is a dirty and noisy city with a nice promenade. attention, dont get run over by cars...by the way, you can get really tasty pizza and pasta at "manfredis". ;-) i recommend a visit at pompeji and ercolano! dont miss!all in all you can stay there for a few days...

The hostel was really dirty with lots of wild cats around The odour was disgusting.. I had a terrible night scratching all over cause the room was full of fleas! The staff at recepption was rude and unhelpful. It´s the worst hostel I have ever been!

This place wasn't that bad. It did sit on top of a hill which made for a long walk up the winding road in the heat a bit of a pain. But it was close to the metro station. Considering Naples is a dirty city, this place was relatively clean. We did have to switch rooms in the middle of the night because there were bugs in one of our beds though so beware! The rooms had their own bathrooms and the staff were friendly. The place was under renovations when I was there and the breakfast wasn't anything more than a bun with butter but overall it wasn't too bad.

I stayed here for about 3 nights while visiting Naples. It's in a good location, within walking distance to the train station, and port/boardwalk area. It's a large hostel (slightly on top of a hill), with large rooms, breakfast area, and patio in the front where almost everyone staying there at night hangs out. The hostel in fairly clean (at least compared to other hostels), and you'll find a lot of other like backpackers there. The only downside, the lockout and curfew. I remember, right in front of the hostel (from viewing distance from the patio), there's an Italian family there that always ate dinner outside on their roof-top/patio. It was just like out of a movie set, they all gathered around the table, ate speghetti and yelled at each other. It was great!Overall, great place.P.S. IF ANYONE HAS PICTURES OF IT, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM. THANKS.

just returned from a university trip to naples, we were a bit worried about the hostel after reading other reviews but it was nothing like the reviews I read.It was clean, quiet, no insects, the staff were both helpful and friendly. Everyone was correct about the breakfast though - a lump of bread and a cup of luke warm coffee/tea/chocolate. En-suite facilities, the showers were hot and the toilets clean, the beds were comfortable and the sheets were that white that you needed shades to look at them. Al in all a very comfortable 4 nights and cheap.

The hostel itself is not bad. The surroundings are a bit dirty but also ok. My main critic is that there were flees in the bedroom and now I feel like a dog scratching myself.. I wish the prices of better hotels in napoli would not be so high to get better facilities.

the hostel was ok....the breakfast orrible and some people i mean staff was so busy to play solitario on internet and they didnt help me....only the guy he was working during the night he was so sweet and good (daniello).anyway if you have possibilty go there it's cheapbye

I had a great time at this hostel, mostly because of the good atmosphere among the guests there, planned to stay a couple of nights but stayed for a week after meeting loads of nice people there. The staff were ok, the hostel has a spectacular view (waking up to the sun rise behind Vesuvius is amazing!) and the city is magnificent if you give it some time (I returned for two months a year later), that said single girls should definitely not hang around Corso Umberto I/Piazza Garibaldi/Forcella too much (a female friend of mine was almost kidnapped by a gang of russian men there), but Spaccanapoli, Vomero, Chiaia and Mergellina are perfectly ok. All in all Napoli is to me the most exciting and colourful city in Europe and there are spectacular destinations nearby, just be tough against those who annoy you and you'll have the best time!

well, the name of this hostel brings me nothing but happy memories!! i can agree about the cold showers, the missing towels, and the breakfeast that sucked, but hey, that's not what you are looking for when you're a back-packer, or you're staying in a new and beautiful city! and by the way, one from the staff was very kind, cool, and funny!ask for Alberto, he'll at least try to help you! The other one, i didn't bother to ask what his name was, was terribly rude and such a sorry man. god damn it. since it is a youth hostel, there was loaded with young,interessting people there! one night in the reseption, we were people from 6 different countries!(austria, italy,japan,norway,germany and france.one pretended he was from africa) we were drinking, laughing, and we had a great time. I didn't notice no cerfew there actually!! i came home to the hostel six o'clock in the morning one of the days! don't mind the rules.i had a wonderful time when i was there! and the fact that they have cats there is just charming! they wont harm you!
