Pros:
price and location
Cons:
A bad smell comes from the underground of the old ancient city from time to time.

I enjoy being in this hostel. Good price and dispite the smell and mosquitos ( we closed the windows by 4:30pm),the room was very clean and spacious. Good bathromm and a plenty of hot water.
For breakfast they served only one cornetto and one cup of drink at your choice.
I would stay there again.

Pleasant central courtyard. Very clean. 8 or 4 bed single sex dorms. I was there with 3 others and was able to upgrade from an 8 bed to 4 bed room which was then mixed, so it is worth asking, if there is a group of you. The croissants for breakfast are delicious! Contrary to what a previous reviewer said, this hostel is ideal for visiting the ruins, it is at a less busy entrance to the site!I agree with the previous reviewer about the train station, we made the same mistake! There are in fact 3 stations in Pompeii, just dont go to Pompeii Scavi, the other 2 are both near the hostel. The only pitfall for this hostel, is a lack of air conditioning.

I stayed here a couple of nights and really like it. The dorms are placed around a courtyard and are simple but adequate! Right in the centre of Pompeii town which was surprisingly pleasant, with cathedral, restaurants and real Italian charm. Staff were friendly...do take a phrasebook though! :) Also, from Napoli, take the normal FS train to Pompei station, not the Circumvesuviana to Pompei Scavi (=Ruins) as this station is FAR closer to the hostel. We didn't realise and had to walk 2km in the heat.

Apparently the only hostel in Pompeii, Casa del Pellegrino was thankfully very nice. A local told me it was new and it showed. Clean with a nice courtyard. Rooms are shared with 3 other people, and include an attached bathroom. If you book online, make sure you bring a printout of the confirmation. They lost our booking and having the printout saved my ass. Breakfast was okay - chocolate croissant and machine made cappuchino/hot chocolate/etc. Deducted one star b/c hostel is far from the ancient site but instead in the main town, near the church.

I stayed here in July 2002 and agree with everything the other reviewer said. I really enjoyed my stay. Also, there were a few really good, but cheap places to eat in the town. It is easy to get to Sorrento from this hostel as well.

I was here in June 2002 while on a three month backpacking trip. This was the cleanest hostel I stayed at the entire time. The rooms are lovely and ultra clean. There is a central courtyard with flowers. It is easy to find from the train station (just follow the signs). The staff were very friendly. And it is close walking distance to the ancient Roman site of Pompeii. Definately recommend it.
