The staff was unfriendly, the room in the cellar was stinky, wet and very hot. The food was terrible, you could hardly eat it and only very few food was served. The hostel is closed from 10am to 4pm and we could not lock our door.If you whant to have a nice holyday in Trieste, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSTEL!!

Ostello Tergeste is overlooking the sea, most of the staff are friendly, and one was really great. The rooms are average, and the bathrooms average, and there is a bar/restaurant attached which is good for those who like to stay up late, but it was too noisy to get a good nights sleep. The hostel is 15-20 mins by bus from the city, and there is no shops or cheap restaurants anywhere nearby, and the last bus leaves the city at 9pm, so don't arrive hungry.

The worst thing about this hostel is getting there - hint: bus 36 from the train station, get off after the fork in the road (5 mins) - but once this is accomplished, enjoy the cheap bed, the crappy breakfast, the ok common room and little TV room, and, most importantly, the charming town and coastline that is trieste. (It takes a good 50 minutes to walk to the hostel from the station.)
