My daughter and I stayed for a week. I made a mistake with the booking and the the staff did everything possible to accomodate us.Beautiful city. Especially the old townSuggest if staying for more than a day or two that you buy a bus ticket (available at reception)Cheap food available in the town centre at Ciaos.Would definately stay there again.Met some really nice people. We took advantage of a chea flight from Scotland. The taxi fare from the airport to the hostel was about 20 euro but you can get a bus from the airport to the city centre and then a bus from the station to the youth hostel.Breakfast was quite basic with hot drinks, yougurt and rolls available.Pizza can be ordered and delivered to the hostelThe only thing that was disappointing was that you couldn't get access to your room before 2pm.

We stayed in this hostel as a group of 11 ppl who had two family rooms from July 29. It was very clean and the staff was ok, but sure the rooms were not super cosy. Great view over the city and hills and nice to have a balcony and own toilet with shower. A fan could have helped though since it was quite hot. Only had one problem and that was that one of the doors couldn't be locked and the staff didn't understand this when we explained it to them. But I've stayed in many hostels and never had any problems with theft even in shared rooms, so this wasn't a big problem. There was a simple breakfast included which was ok, no gourme really but still something for the road. Since we had cars and was just staying two nights (with a day trip to Como lake) before going down to Tuscany it was a very good and cheap option for us with easy access to the high way. Maybe a bit to the side if you go for a city weekend without transport but there was one or two buses stoping just outside the hostel.

This hostel is up on a mountain, far from everywhere. There is just a bus to go to "Città Alta" but it results quite uncomfortable because its timetable is very limited and reaching the hostel during the night is almost impossible. Appart from this, staff aren't very pleasant and the dining-room was a bit cold in December. Rooms are quite tidy and clean and there is a toilet and a shower inside all of them.

We stayed here for 4 nights last week and had a great time. The plan was to go and visit Milan but we didn't even get there. We just stayed in Bergamo and enjoyed the peace and quiet, good food and the friendly people. Not to mention the great views. The staff at the hostel are very nice and made us feel very welcome. Almost all rooms have their own balconies which is a real bonus!

Stayed in the hostel in February 04. Staff were brilliant, very helpful and even arranged a night out for us at a local club. Place is clean and pretty secure. Bergamo is fantastic, really beatifull and the old town is fantastic. The hostel isnt that hard to find although it does require a bit of stamina to climb the many steps to reach it. The only downside was the truely awful breakfast, I expected some cereal at least and all we got was a couple of rolls and a cup of tea. Overall, cheap and cheerful.

this hostel is difficult to find unless you get help from locals. steps leading to hostel were daunting. visited in april 2002 and was given a triple room with ensuite which was great for us. breakfast disappointing, internet useless and pizza ordered from local shop inedible. clean and almost clinical hostel. would be great in summer.

this place felt very hotel/industrial like, and was decent for the price we paid, but the staff were not very friendly and the location was rather far from the train station. the staff were shocked that we didn't have a hosteling international card, and seemed almost unhelpful with other requests. as far as getting to the hostel, you need to take the #14 bus from the porta novia area, then ask for the "ostello"... takes about 10-15 minutes to arrive there. then you need to walk up a hill, and finally arrive at your destination. the view from the rooms was nice, and the place is very clean.

This place is a real treasure. It is located a bus ride from the station and buses run frequently. The welcome we got was really friendly and all our questions were answered. Breakfast is included. The rooms are clean with ensuite shower and toilet. The lockout isn't bad and you can leave your luggage no problem, as there is someone on reception until quite late. We got a balcony with views over Bergamo and the hills. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

bergamo is a fantastic place to visit, and the hostel is clean, but thats about it. when we arrived in bergamo, at 10pm after a flight and 10 euro taxi fare, we were shown a copy of our booking form and were told that we missed a key ingredient- our credit card details. we had already told them we didnt want to send this information over an unsecure email site and they said it would be fine. the staff were very unapolgagetic and unsympathetic and we were forced to book in to a 35 euro a head hotel at 11.30 pm!- just as well we had some emergency cash. afterwards another hosteller told us that even though she had provided her credit card details she wasnt given a room- and like us had to come back the next evening. apparently they do this to make more money by filling up dorm rooms rather than renting private ones. the breakfast was horrible- a rock hard roll and half cup of tea. if you wanted more you had to pay extra. there were no laundry facilities available and no guest kitchen- they order pizza for you, which is cheap though. the other hostellers were lovely and the hostel itself and location isnt bad, but the attitude of the staff is pathetic - they really dont go out of their way to help you.

this hostel was so hard to find from the station. the ppl at the hostel weren't very helpful in determining where this place was. plus it was up on a hill a million steps above. the good thing about the rooms were the balcony and the private bathroom. however, it was VERY loud since I think the locals came over and partied. the shower in the bathroom flooded the main room when you opened the door. the mopeds zooming around in the middle of the night was also annoying. the buns you got for breakfast could have broken the tiled floors. it was pretty sad. overall it was okay to stay as a stopover. the phones there didn't work and they didn't even care about fixing them. we had to walk all the way down the steps and around a few corners to find a phone.
