I stayed here in July with my 2 brothers.

This is what we thought of it:

Good Points:

near the city centre, clean, comfy beds with clean sheets, padlock lockers outside room for luggage.

Bad Points:

no place for dry clothes in showers, no kitchen, (eating out in Milan can be expensive), no ironing facilites in laundry, loos in bathrooms are very low and not very clean and have no seating, internet doesn't work, (there's only one net cafe in the whole of Milan down an alleyway), rooms closed from 930 till 3pm!, out of dorms by 930am!, midnight cufew!, no hand soap in bathrooms, breakfast is just a roll and jam.

If I ever came back to Milan for a holiday I would stay in a different hostel.

The security really does not exists. Some people can sleep there with no paying at all!!! And the same can take a shower and breakfast exacly as one who paid for. So, the same people walk by the rooms and somethings could disappear from your stuff. Recommeded you leave your things in the locker, that is not pretty safe, but much better than leave them on the bed.

The mosquitos eat (or drink) you when spending some time outside (summer).

The staff was pretty good almost all the time. I thought I was lost something of my belongings when changing room, but the cleaning staff found it and leave it at reception (really incredible!!). Otherwise, the night staff use to kick you out from the outsiders chairs and tables at 11pm (if you´re not from a rich country, at 10.45pm).

As all of HI kind, almost all mornings you have to leave your bed at 9.30am.

The b.fast is good, even more to a hostel. Free service of milk, coffee, bread, juice (one flavour), honey, butter.

On foot is far from the city centre, but you can take the metro QT8 (Quartiere T 8) in 5min -look, the other station (Lotto/Fiera 2) is farther!!! It is the same line to Duomo (L 1, red)

Maybe i'm just easily pleased but i thought this hostel was absolutely fine! it was clean, spacious, very social, with the best breakfast i had anywhere in europe and - most importantly - accepted us in mid july without a booking. True, it's the only hostel (i'm aware of) in Milan so if you want to visit this city (which is extremely nice and sadly seems to suffer from something of a bad rep) you kinda have to stay here. But, withstanding that, i'd recommend it anyway. Stop being so fussy!!

The only thing going for this place is the price. To say that the staff could do with a week at the Charm School is a major understatement - downright rude and objectionable is more accurate. The doors and beds fall apart (be prepared to be blamed for this and asked to pay), the atmosphere is prison-like, the toilets have no seats or paper and the location is terrible if you want to see anything other that San Siro! Oh - and watch out for scary lone-travellers... this is not a place for children! My advice: put your hands in your pockets and stay somewhere half decent.

This place would not be so bad if it was not clear out of the way. The reception was good and the rooms were the normal hostel bunkbeds and tile floor. Although the bit about no toliet seats is true. The are no toliet seats. None. Not even half a toliet seat. Other then that it was alright. Nice pub around the corner and decent nights sleep.

This wasn't the best hostel, but Milan isn't the kind of city you stay in for more than one night anyway- visit the rest of Italy! The beds were clean and they do give you large lockers to keep your stuff secure. The bathrooms have plenty of hot water but not toliet paper- also there are NO toliet seats, be prepared to hover and check for TP before you commit to whatever your doing in there. Breakfast is fine, a huge bowl of drink and 2 rolls with butter and jam. The staff is not really friendly and the lockout hours/ check in time is a bit of a pain. But its only 16 Euros, so my advice is to see what little there is to see in Milan, get a decent night rest here and then move on.

I spent five nights here with my brother and four friends for an international football match (Wales v Italy, Sept 2003) and some sight seeing. After booking online and reading earlier reviews we were expecting the worst but it was fine. We were given a large room by ourselves, sheets and the place was clean, spacious and quiet at night. Although one of our beds fell apart and the light did have the occasional habit of turning itself on?! The showers are hot and powerful but too few and the toilet paper DOES run out.

The location is perfect for the San Siro stadium (20mins walk) and it is fairly easy to reach the city centre by underground train: Lotto to Duomo (Cathedral) is about 9 stops, 25 mins. Whilst in Milan make sure you see the spectacular gothic cemetery. The natural history museum is impressive and you need to book ahead for the amazing last supper! There is a good view of the very flat city from the man-made hill/park near (north west, QT8) the hostel and the local Wild West themed pub is worth a visit too.

The curfew seems to be less strict than before, altered to 1am. One night the gate was open till 2am. Closing out time (for cleaning) is about 10am and this lasts until about 4pm. However one day when my brother was ill and wanted to sleep in they let him use the bed in the infirmary. Otherwise the staff ARE generally unhelpful (and miserable). The breakfast is OK: two rolls and large bowl of drink. There is no kitchen for guest use but there is big a supermarket near by where you can buy bread, olives, ham, fruit etc. (Sambuca 4.70 euros a bottle!). We ate outside in the garden or in our room (we werent supposed to but we werent told off). Overall for the price (in Milan!) we were content. The atmosphere is a bit dull but provided you have company or are an experienced backpacker with a reasonable amount of fortitude you shouldnt have too many complaints. I have stayed in far worse hostels in Barcelona, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Happy trails

This place was fine for a one night stop-over! The welcome was fine. It does look a bit like a prison from the outside! The rooms are decent-sized and you get a big locker. Breakfast is included which is enough to start the day off with. The lockout is strict, but we didnt stay long enough for it to bother us. Males and females are segregated. The showers are hot, but not particularly clean and toilet paper runs out quickly and isnt replaced very often so bring your own. All in all, it was a decent-enough place for the money!

Not too many hosteling options in Milano, so we stayed here. Mistake. Check-in took about 45 minutes, the place has gigantic fencing surrounding it like a prison (the only thing missing is barbed wire and sniper towers), the staff is not exactly friendly and the interior feels like a hospital. We skipped breakfast, but it did not appear to be anything of note. Check out is 7:00am to 9:30am, which is just a tad bit early. The toilets are approximately five inches off the ground and lack toilet seats. Try to make twos in the afternoon because by the evening and early morning, all toilet paper is gone. Also, I was given bed #19 in room #3, but bed #19 does not exist. Everyone else in the hostel also lost their minds there, so skip this place at all costs...better off at a budget hotel closer to the center or train station.

they own the hostel circuit in milan because they are large, "official hostel international franchise" and thus ingratiate themslves as usually the sole listing for hostles in maps, guides, etc.

however they are incredibally non'professional. checkin times are very long, the fellow behind the counter will insult you in italian if he knows you do not speak in italian, and they will shout at you if you protest anything. i saw a fellow trying to get a refund on an internet pass he bought, and then found out that the internet was broken. they would not give him a refund and shouted at him in front of 20 of us. they were very rude to him and the fellow just left the hostel to find a new one.

ALSO.. you need to buy the full 15 euro HI card to stay there, they will not charge you the pro'rated amount. they say they have no stamps, but its a lie. its basically a scam since they are far from the train center and you would rather pay 15 euros after going to throuhgh the hassle to get there via the metro.
