Stayed in Friendship Place at the end of May and I truly enjoyed my 5 nights there. The place is spotless. There are three bathrooms that are always clean and dry, they make your beds everyday, clean the rooms and provide a nice breakfast of pastries, cereals, coffee and tea every morning. The owner and staff are all very helpful and friendly. Gave us useful travel advice and tips. There is no common room but that isn't that big a deal. There are chairs in the hallway for people to sit, have breakfast and talk. The only thing is that the hostel is on the third floor so it is a bit of a climb. All in all, it is a nice place to stay. I will definitely stay there again.

I learnt from the internet that many people found this hostel great, so I just go stragiht to that hostel when i get to Rome.

As many people say, it is one of the best hostels I have ever been. Good breakfast, good bed, and above all: clean.

I met a bunch of great people. They are friendly in giving you travel advice.

The best way of describing the Friendship Place is with is own name. The owner which took care of everybody that was there is awesome, he tries to help you in any way he can from finding you a hostal to a place to party. If you are traveling alone or in a small group and want to meet people this is the best place to stay. Besides the owner everyone is really nice and helpful too. The bathrooms are small but they are ok and they are always clean at all times, beds are comfortable and you really can get a good sleep. You get breakfast, internet, party and much more. I really recommended it.

If you are staying in this hostel, be aware that it is pretty tough to spot. It is in an excellent location, about 3 minutes from the train station. It is #14 and has no sign outside. You must ring yourself in. The third floor hike is a little intimidating when you first arive, but this place is great.

After speaking with the hostel owner (which every recent reviewer seems to have done) he is an amazingly helpful individual. He took care of both current and departing guests, finding them other hostels in the city and in other locations. He took us bar-hopping with his friends. He cooked dinner on two consecutive nights for everyone in the hostel. If you are staying in the hostel, get to know Franchesco, he will show you the ropes in Rome.

Breakfast was all-you-can-grab in the morning. If you get up late, your shower will be ice cold, but if you get in at off-peak times, it is great. You can maximize your time by using the toilet at the same time since they are connected.

There is no common room in this hostel, which is great for anyone travelling alone because the bedrooms become social spots and it is easy to meet people. There are a number of other businesses owned by the manager (indian restauraunt, internet, cesars pub). You will get deals at all these places (free half hour of internet daily, free meal at the indian restauraunt after 3 nights stay, free tea any time, and free tequila at Cesars from the indian place). This place was great to come home to after a long day of sight-seeing.

Highly recommended.

I found the Friendship Place to be one of the best hostels i have stayed in. The owner Francesco, is an amazing guy and makes staying there worthwhile. He is extremely friendly and will make dinner, and take the guests out to bars. The hostel itself is nice enough with clean sheets and very clean toilets. The toilet and shower are combined so you can take a shit while showering, which to me was a totally awesome experience. the breakfast is pretty good, and there are lots of dishes and stuff to cook with. The bottom line though is the customer service made this place great and would love to go back just to hang out with the owner.

First off the hostel is on the 3rd floor of a building and yes you have to walk the stairs to get there. That's the price you pay for one of the best atmospheres you can find in a hostel. The place is not large, and there is no common room, but you develop a real sense of comradery and community among the other people staying there, as well as with the staff; most notably Franchesco - the coolest and most humble guy I met in my travels in Italy. His hostel is extremely clean and he does provide a lot for the $ spent - free internet, clean linen every day, free towels, breakfast, and he even cooked dinner for about 15-20 of us one night... not to mention taking a bunch of the people there to a few pubs at night. Oh no curfew either and security is a non issue... staff are present and awake 24/7, aware of hostel happenings.

After seeing the reviews here, I was skeptical at first, but have no hesitation in recommending this place to everyone I encounter heading to Rome.

I don't agree at all with the last rewiews, and I think they are old dated. I spent 5 days in that Hostel at the end of March, and must say I found it great . I think there's now a new owner, an italian guy (Francisco) and I think he's doing a great job, I spoke with him and he's really nice and gentle. Toilettes aren't that big ok, but are always clean and there's always hot water . they give you for breakfast bunch of milk, coffee, fresh pastries, jelly and nutella toast ( I have never seen other hostels doing that!) you also got half hour of free internet every day, and at the 3rd night you have a free indian menu' at the local indian fast food . they have a safe box, a locker and I found it was a pretty safe place. You can prepare your food, everything works well, they also prepare food ( good pasta!) for all guests sometimes. there are about 24 beds, I met a lot of people and atmosphere was really nice. they have a tv and also a satellit with CNN and some other german and english channels, you can watch them. no curfew, they change the linen every day and people at the reception are really nice and helpful (you can see them cleaning the toilettes and emptying the bin every 5 minutes...crazy!)

It's not a big hostel, but it's clean , quit and very nice, plus located just two blocks from the train station

I read the other reviews that were written here, and I don't agree so much. I thought it was a pretty cool place, decently clean. The people were great, location was great, I was pretty happy. I actually talked at length with one of the staffers there, who was actually an immigrant from Bangladesh, and it was quite interesting. Also included like twenty minutes a day of free Internet access. On the minus side though, security is terrible, get ready for 6-person rooms and bunked beds, not much of a breakfast, and yes, the combined toilet/shower was tiny, and wasn't so great.

We found "Friendship Place" to be dissappointing yet as a last resort it sufficed. We met some nice people. You can sit on the toilet while you take a shower, hence "shitter shower." Be sure to protect the toilet paper or it will get soaked! Fun pub crawl, go for it.

The hostel is situated in the 3rd floor without an elevator. There is no curfew and no comfort. The bathroom is very small and not the cleanest one. There are two rooms with about 16 beds, one for boys and one for girls. Was not very clean, but very close to the railway station. Conclusion: It's ok but there are better hostels in Rome.
