My friends and I traveled to Positano on a whim, having no idea where we were going to stay. We were in Italy for 2 months studying and traveling, so we needed to find inexpensive accomodations. We were told to go to the hostel and were given rooms and it was about $25 US for a night. The only problem is that you must be in the doors by a certain time or the front doors are locked and unless you have friends waiting for you, there is no way to get in. That didn't matter for us though, and we had a quiet place to sleep. We got up in the morning and are given breakfast if you pay for it in your room-fee, and then you must be out by around 8 am. Overall, I would stay there again. We hiked down to the beach for the nightlife, and the view is absolutely amazing from the balcony of the hostel, especiialy in the early morning!!! Also, if you are looking for a place to eat, please visit the restaurant high atop the mountains(cannot remember the name) but it is delicious and it is all homemade food. The hostel recommended it to us. Cannot wait to return.

my sister and i traveled in mid October. We reserved 2 beds out of a 5bedroom in advance at Hotel Positano, and was confirmed. Showed up in the afternoon was told room is flooded, they had nothing, sent us to a hostel and did not refund our money.

They said they will forward our money to the hostel for us, and we lost money during the transaction and was downgraded to a dirty and disgusting dorm.

There were problems at the hostel (another review), we ended up walking the streets of rome at 2 in the morning trying to find accomodations. After a bit of walking and no luck, I really had to pee so I decided to go back to the Positano, either they're going to let me use the facilities or I was going to pee on their door. Night manger let us in, we told him the situation, how in the morning we were supposed to be there, but because of the flooding, we were sent to the hostel. Well, turned out there was no flooding. NO FLOODING?? What do you mean no flooding. Yeah, look here, in the reservations book our names were erased and others put in. The night manger said there was no flooding, more girls came in the afternoon and the day manger dumped us out to take their money, and they were sleeping in OUR UNFLOODED room.

Night manger felt sorry for us and gave us a great double room for free.

Overall yeah sure the room was good. Clean, bathroom down the hall clean as well, but I only got to stay there for 4 hours until morning. The night guy was great, he was a foreign worker, I really appreciated what he did, and if not for him, I'd give this place no stars because they treat you terrible.
