I hate this hostel. There are a lot of good things about it. The day staff was nice enough, and the beds were very comfortable. It is also in a very central location (literally across from Termini Station). But it was an absolute ripoff. They charged me 25 Euros a night (I was there in mid-September). Absolutely shocking. I later met others who were in Rome at the same time as me, but paid substantially less for their beds at other hostels (16-20 Euros a night). And the worst thing about this place was the overbearing security system in place. I understand that the Termini area can be extremely sketchy at night, but I honestly felt like I was sleeping in a military barracks sometimes. I thought that having to be buzzed in every time you go into your room was a bit overboard, and the sound of that infernal buzzing woke me up more than once. And the night staff was, ahem, less than attentive. On two occasions, I came home later at night, buzzed up to reception, and didn't get a reply for 15-30 minutes. On both occasions, the person at the front desk told me that they were sleeping. I know that working the nightshift is not easy or fun, but if you're going to insist on such stringent security, at least let people in when they ring the bell. Especially considering how dodgy the Termini area is at 4:30 AM. I'd never stay at this hostel ever again.

This is well located right opposite Termini station, there is fab security here too which is a big plus because the area can be pretty sketchy at night.

The staff are friendly and helpful...however I was a little annoyed at the fact that we arrived at 4.30pm and still had to wait another 30mins for our beds to be available!?!

The common area is funky...think big floor cushions and Mtv playing - your at pop inn!

The dorms were clean as were the bathrooms, but the hot water was not always readily available and the pressure in the shower was dreadful. The beds were ok, a little uncomfortable.

The breakfast was good and bad! You can take it at almost anytime of the day, and its a croissant and cappucino/coffee/tea. The downside is that you had to take it in a cafe just along the street which had a very small seating area.

I would stay here again, the pluses for me were the friendly staff and funky interior!

I stayed at this hostel in late May and early June of this year and I had a great time. I found most of the staff to be very friendly and willing to answer questions about Rome. The beds were made daily and the bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Since I don't eat much for breakfast normally I found the croissant and coffee to be perfect although I did find the staff at that cafe to be really cold and curt. I also thought that the security of the building was good. You have to buzz for them to let you in and you have to buzz again to get into your dorm room. They have cameras so they can see who you are. The internet access at the beginning was incredibly slow but at the end of my stay the connection speed was really good. Depending on what time of the day it was there was usually no line for it.

The only thing about the bathrooms is that you need to pick new and creative times to have a shower. I tried to get one in the morning once but too many people had used it already and the water was ice cold. So I took to taking my shower at 4 in the afternoon. I would also suggest that they put a sink in every room (I know that at least one of the rooms has one) because at night quite often all people want to do is wash their face and brush their teeth and they have to wait for 15-20 minutes for someone to get out of the shower.

But above all this is a very social hostel. I met so many great people here and there is always someone to go out with. One staff member was really nice and let us sit in the common room after midnight because some other people in our room wanted to go to sleep.

I would recommend this hostel to everyone and when I go back I will definitely stay there again.

What a great place! Perfect location right next to the Roma Termini (Train Station). The staff recommended some great places to eat. The rooms and bathrooms were extremly well taken care off. Met some very cool travelers there from all over the world. HIGHLY Recommend this place. Plus it is located right next to the bus station, so you can hop on any bus to go sight seeing for the day.

The easiest hostel to find. Walk out Termini Station to track one...go out to the street, look right and you'll see the sign. Perfect for backpackers with lots to carry or earlier departures in the morning.

The place is also a great place to meet people. I hung out with 13 different people in Rome that I met at the Pop Inn during my 4 days at this hostel...meeting people is easy as the hostel doesn't hold too many people(60 or so?) .

With that though, it is tough to get a room. I was lucky enough to be travelling during mid-may and it was possible to get a room early in the morning...however the place was filled up every night...so book ahead...especially as it is becoming more and more popular.

A bed costs about 20 euro but that isn't too bad as they give you a map of the city plus free internet. The internet rooms closes down though around midnight or so.

There is a wide staff...and I think I met all of them. I would have to say the male staff were really really really friendly people. While a couple of female staff members were cold and maybe even a little rude. Not all of them...one female staff member directed me on how to get to the beach...a couple of train rides away. The female staff I'm talking about weren't very forthcoming on how to use the intercom system...apparently you are only supposed to push the button once and not hold it in while you talk to get let in the hostel. So of course they're upset when I keep holding it in and trying to talk(which they don't hear me because I'm HOLDING the button and don't let me in). Now if someone would have told me this information...all would have been well. Kinda rude to get upset at me when you didn't do your job in telling me how the security system/intercom works. The staff also could have volunteered me some information not to hang my towel up on the clothesline. My towel fell down to the lower level and I didn't get it back as it was some other ladies' property. One of the staff was kind to go knock on the ladies door but she was not there. It was only after my towel fell that they told me I'm not supposed to put my towel on the clothesline...and they were kinda upset with me about that too since I was taking their time away from other things...why even have the clothesline in the first place if people aren't supposed to use it or you're not going to tell them NOT to use it?

There is no curfew...someone is always working the desk/intercom...which is nice since Rome has some good places to drink(although a euro or two more than other places). A good idea is to just buy some cheap wine at a grocery store(the one in termini is a good choice)...and walk the streets with some mates or head to the spanish steps and party with the locals and other travellers.

Security is good...almost too good. Unless you're in the room by the desk...you have to be let into the door to your room. A nice feature...but couldn't keys be just as suitable? Make people pay a deposit...and save the staff from walking up and down the stairs to let people into the door that leads to their rooms. Bathrooms are located in all these sections...there is one (kinda) main bathroom across from the office but the other bathrooms you have to be let into the door by the staff.

There are SMALL lockers in the office...sadly my American combination lock was too thick to go through the hole. I forked up $5 for one of the hostels locks(which I got to keep...and they kept my $5)...which worked. The lock was a key lock...they give you 2 keys incase you lose one. Not a bad lock...I used it elsewhere along my trip...so I wasn't too upset forking over $5. Really though the hostel is so secure...and other travellers so friendly...you don't have to worry about stuff getting stolen.

One more thing...the rooms are co-ed...which makes it easier to meet people of the opposite sex(good in my opinion). The rooms are all fairly spacious...just about all of them have bunkbeds. It can be difficult to sleep because the station is just outside and cars and people can be out there making noise at all hours of the night.

So overall...I think this hostel is great. The services are pretty darn good for the money in one of the coolest cities on the planet...the co-ed dorms, small lounge and not so large size of the hostel make getting to know people easy...the staff could just be a little bit more friendly...and explain the rules a little bit better(intercom, clothesline) and we'd have a pretty darn good kitchenless hostel.

Overall, I give this hostel 4 stars...reccommended.

I stayed here for a bit over a week, around the new year. Very nice place, clean, great staff, and met some cool people here as well.

I'd recommend this hostel to everyone who want a safe, clean, cheap place to stay in.

This is really the best hostel I stayed. The friendly atmosphere, the spacious rooms, the cleanliness of the place (very difficult to find in a hostel where usually bathrooms are dirty most of the time), the location, all the free services they offer, make this hostel unique and Rome unforgettable. Stay there!
