BUG Review
This small hostel has very limited facilities, for instance the kitchen is limited to just a microwave and fridge. It is a bit grubby, but OK for most people.
Price
Dorm bed €14-18

I actually spent the best/worst 3 nights at hotel sandy (fondly called hotel dirty). Its not clean and the staff is weird (some of them are nice, some of them are really rude)Luckily there were some really funny people in my room and we had an awesome/eventful time. They do provide medium sized lockers but some of them don't work and even though there are two bathrooms only one shower has hot water. The other shower is cramped and the floor usually has no less than 2 inches of water on it, either due to the washing machine or the shower curtain. The rooms are co-ed, and their is only one room with a sink included. They offer a pub crawl which is 10 Euros for all you can drink bad beer and wine as well as admission to undoubtly of the worst bars in Rome. The newly installed elevator costs 5 cents to go up or down in and will take your money and not work 1out of 3 times. The kitchen is a microwave in the hall, and Toliet paper is pretty scarce. There are lock out hours for 'cleaning' but magically the rooms are just as dirty as before. BUT it's cheap and close to the terminal, there is laundry/internet close by, and pretty inexpensive places to eat within walking distance. Plus it attracts quite the crowd of fun young backpackers. I met a lot of crazy people and had a hilarious time. Only stay here if you have a sense of humor and don't mind a little weirdness.

I had an excellent time when I stayed at Sandy last week! Sure, the place is on the top floor and there is no common room, but the lift is now up and running so that's no big deal and there's plenty of room to sit and chat in the dorms. I found the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the location was great; close to all the main sights and also Rome's principal train station. I've stayed in a number of hostels during my travels and, taking into account the bargain price to stay at Sandy, you certainly get a lot for your money! If you go to Rome now you know where to stay!

I had a week's stay there and thoroughly enjoyed it, would recommend for anyone who comes to Rome without being to sure of the place beforehand. Good clean rooms in central location, perfect for getting to the Colosseum. Friendly staff who will direct you to all the best places. The streets below have bars, shops and there is a laundrette close by too. Even though you're in the centre of the city the area is good on a budget and the bed price is about the cheapest around.

I stayed at Sandy Hostel for several days and enjoyed myself. The staff are friendly and helpful, the hostel is cheap. It is located on the fifth floor but the elevator is wonderful. The Colosseum is a ten-minute walk. Everything you need is within the same block.

Look elsewhere! This place was 18 Euros for a bed in an 8 person room. There was a sink in the room, but it had a sign saying "do not use". I stayed here one night and it was horrible. The bed are creaky and old, and the blankets are dirty. There was a guy in the bed next to me who looked like he was on drugs and had went to the bathroom in bed. Yea, nice. There is a lock out during the day, but the staff doesnt seem to really clean anything, as the place is a dump. Also, no elevator, good luck walking up five flights and being greated by rude people. No internet access either as previous posts stated. There is a microwave in the hallway, a poor substitute for a kitchen. Two bathrooms, one of which has a washer for people to use. However, the bathroom floor was muddy, and had piles of dirt in there. The washer leaked, spreading muddy water all over the floor. The people who work there, not too nice. The guy who checked us in smelled like he hadn't showered in a week. When he showed us our room and beds, he also yelled and some other girls already there for switching beds. Nice first impression. But this takes the cake: I guess there is confusion and specific beds for specific guests (guests= people suckered into staying there). I took a nap after checking in, as I didnt sleep well the night before and was exhausted. I awake to a older man screaming at me to get out of his bed. He was completely rude. I ignored him as I was half-asleep, im assuming the problem was resolved as that was the bed I slept in that night.Hotel Sandy (should be called hotel shady) is lucky the elevator does not run, as it would have NO business at all if people didnt have to walk back down five flights of stairs.

I made reservation only to find out after climbing 5 flights of stairs that the boss did not forward it to his staff. Appearently it is a big problem with the way they do things there. You must send and receive a total of 4 emails in order to supposedly confirm your reservation. On top of that it is the most unsanitary hostel I have stayed at my whole 2 months I have been backpacking. Avoid at all cost!

I thought Sandy was great. Beats the hell out of those horribly institutional HI places. Coed hostels are the only way to go!

Close to Termini Station. This hostel is five or six floors up with no lift, however, they were putting one in. The hot water wasn't working when we stayed and we really didn't see much of the staff. They did give us money back for the hot water not working. Good location but no common room or kitchen. It really just seemed like some girls apartment. Not the best but by no means the worst.

I recently stayed at Hotel Sandy and thought it was excellent. It's true that there's no common room or TV, but the hostel very cheap and in a perfect position in the centre of Rome. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful to customers. The rooms were basic but clean and the bathroom facilities were good - there was also free internet access for guests. The hostel is 4 floors up but when I visited an elevator was being built so this shouldn't be a problem. I would 100% recommend this hostel as it is perfect for budget travellers.
