While the hostel here may be more expensive than most, this IS Venice, and everything else is also expensive. The hostel was a short walk away from the station, which was great when you're carrying a heavy pack. We got a 5-person room, and that really cut down on the cost. The room included an ensuite bathroom, complete with a very clean shower and toilet. The room itself was very spacious with firm beds (an excellent night's sleep!). Some noise could be heard from the bar downstairs, and there definitely is an early-morning wake up call from the church across the street. However, the windows were thick and cut out most of the noise. I would definitely stay there again, no problem. We were also able to store our luggage even though we had checked out. An excellent place to stay.

Made a phone reservation and was quoted 25 euros for a dorm bed. Arrived at the agreed upon time (late night) and was told by an easily exasperated, hostile receptionist that the place was full-- but there was a bed available at another place. At that late hour, I wasn't going to wander dark Venice alleys looking for lodging- it was high season month of July. They gave me a map but the place was impossible to find, were it not for a very helpful local Venetian who helped me find it (he even admitted that directions were misleading and incorrect). Fortunately, Casa Chiumento was comfortable and cost only 21 euros in 4-bed room. Judging from reviews, glad I didn't stay at AGC; but wanted to know in advance that I wasn't going to stay there or that I had to spend another 20-30 min looking for the place they sloughed me to.

We spent three nights under the opression of the management at the Allogi. Like many had complained before, the construction was loud, the management was unapproachable, and the rooms weren't that nice. These among other complaints left a sour taste in our mouths during our short stay in Venice.

took my mother here, had a wonderful time, clean, nice dorms and rooms, helpful staff.

If you are nice and pleasent, most people in life are very nice too.

have stayed here evreyyear for past three years, never had a single problem.

prices are reasonable for venice.

no hotel in europe ever gives a refund!, no hostels give refunds, ever!

they are tired of irrational clients changing their minds evrey minute of the day. can't blame them .

I was so regret to book a single room for 3 nights at their hostle.

First night, they told me the single room for me was occupied(they seems to have only one single room and they took double bookings).Though they gave me a big triple room,I was waken up unfriendly in the early mornig on the 2nd day to move out the room.I was not saticefied with their attitute.I told them I might not stay for the 3rd night, but I've paid the total ammount when I arrived. The boss asked me to come later(He was busy in other's case and no other staff can service me).I was too tired to communicate with them,so I thought I just stayed unhappily one more night.

The third day when I'd go out,the wife of boss asked me if I wanted to check out cos I "ever" told the boss I "may" not stay for the 3rd night and they'd accepted the other's booking in this morning.OK~~anyway I didn't want to stay there,so I went back the room to pack my stuff. Then, they told me they only returned me "half" money(18 euros) and if that person did come in the afternoon,I could get back the other half money.I quarreled with them why I need to resposible for that person's coming and why I need to come this dreadful place again. Finally, they only returned me 30euros(36 euros per night). They said the 6 euros is for "changing sheet."

They are the evil couple.Don't stay there.

We paid 72 euros for an ensuite double room(they accept cash only),but no view no breakfast.I may say it looks like a family-operating "hostle" but offers the tariffs and services of a "hotel". Don't trust the pictures shown on their website. It's the attrative church on the same square in stead of the outlook of the hostle. They only got a small and poor door on the corner of the square.

We moved to the other hotel called"Arcadia"(just go ahead on the same street and cross the bridge). It's really nice.It cost 50euros for a double room including great breakfast and they accept the credit card.

yeh sure the location is great 2 minutes away form station thank goodness we only booked one night it was horrid couldnt swing a cat in the room it was dirty there are workmen drilling all day and the staff are very unapprochable and the reception stinks of fish!!!! anyhow this is extremely expensive and not a nice way to start your visit in venice. However for our second night we moved a couple of doors up to a little hotel called al gobbo which was only 3 euros dearer and we had our own bathroom very friendly staff and the old grandma was very sweet, so check this one out instead.

The hostel was in the middle of renovations, so only half of the rooms were available. A lot of the problems other people have mentioned no longer seemed to apply. I was in a newly renovated dorm room with its own bath and shower facilities, which were new and modern. Didn't see a single line up in the hall, so can only assume there were enough bathrooms for the number of rooms on that floor. Heat was turned on around 5:00pm. The room didn't overlook the square so didn't have any problems with the church bells ringing. If anything had problems sleeping in as there wasn't anything obvious to wake you up. The staff were extremely friendly and had no problems understanding English. As mentioned previously, it is easy to find and very accessible to the vaparettos and main streets of Venice. There is a curfew at 12:30, so if you're looking to party the night away, this isn't the place. If you're looking for someplace clean, quiet and friendly to spend the night, I'd recommend Casa Gerotto.

The hostel is convenient and easy to find. It is a bit expensive at 20-21 euros for a dorm but we found it hard to find anywhere cheaper. We paid 23 euros each for a double with a view over a park - nice. It was fine for one night. The showers were hot - or should I say shower - there was only one on the floor. This wasn't a problem for us though because we never had to wait. Beware that you are not allowed to drink or come home drunk - in the words on their sign `it is FORBIDDEN´.

The good thing about this hostel is that it is very close to the train station. You will hear the bell ring for a VERY long time early in the morning (6 or 7am). The room I stayed in was cramped with 7 beds (none are bunk beds), no individual sleeping light so have to find your way between the narrow space of the beds in the dark. There are only 1 bathroom for the floor, and make sure you open the window when u take showers because the staff will scream at you if they find the room is steamed or wet.

No breakfast, expensive (20 Euros in mid-November, for a dorm room), curfew at 12:30am, lockout time is 10-4pm, NO HEATER availble until 8pm (so forget about taking a nice nap in the afternoon). No source for any guidebook (even for Venice).

I didnt have a good experience here but Venice itself is a very beautiful place to visit.
