I've made a comment formerly. And reading all the other, I concluded that different rooms implies different opinions. My one, the firts at left, was a very good studio, tv, kitchen, bath, but no fridge, which I didn't miss.

So, choose carefully. Or go see them first and make no booking!!!

Venice ís very expansive. This hostels changes his price with seasons, but I considered it worth: I could save money by cooking and have excellent breakfast at the room (I bought it at the super). Good room, actually. With the kitchen, a sofa and tv, old, but working. They were reforming, so it could become more expansive. It isn't far from San Marcos Piazza, vaporetto, Bienalle pavillion (important for me at the time).

A dive with the worst service I've ever received, June 15, 2004

No surprise that the staff at Ca'Venezia insisted that we pay for our apartment before seeing it. The bathroom was disgusting even by Mediterranean standards, the "kitchen" had no fridge, and the only staff available was rude, elusive and uncooperative. When we tried to offer solutions, she claimed not to be responsible. When we asked to speak to someone who had some authority, she said he may or may not come to the hostel during our 3-day stay, and she didn't care to help us find him. There is no truth to any of this hostel's advertised claims. It is a dive and a scam. Go somewhere - anywhere - else.

Only one line in review worth avoiding for old, uncleaned, crappy toilets and so does rooms.

The worst hostel I have ever had the disadvantage to stay at. I wont disagree with those who have had a nice stay, but for me, I would have been cleaner sleeping at the train station. Not that there are many choices in Venice, but dont chose this one.

From all the reviews it appears that one should contact them direct to talk about what room you want. But I am looking all over the web and find booking places for this hostel but no direct phonenumber that works or an email address for the hostel itself.

Can anyone supply these? A hostel webpage perhaps?

Studio 4 (double) has a leaky ceiling when the bathroom in studio 7 (dorm 6 people) is used. #7 kitchen is out of order and has mold over the entire floor. We all got allergic reactions to the mold. Studio 5 (4beds) was great (heard from our neighbours). So make sure you know which room you are in before arriving. Clean sheets, moody personel, bathrooms ok.

Be aware. Great location. Chancy stay.

We had a really grim few days in this hostel. Unfortunately, we did not read these reviews before we left for Venice. The room was a four bed share, with stains on the blankets and hundreds of mosquitos. The shared bathroom was very pokey! The shower dribbled water and the pan did not drain away so we were stood in dirty water, yuk! The toilet seat had fallen off and there were cat hairs in the bidet!! In it's defense the linen was clean as promised, but no clean towels until we had asked for the third time.

If you choose to stay in this hostel, please be prepared and choose the 'apartments' apparently they are much better. We found this room incredibly expensive for what was available and we were glad we did not have to spend too much time there!!!

Economical Appartments for Group Travellers/Families, May 20, 2003

First a warning - I'm writing about the appartments, not the hostel accomodation, which I've read is awful. I stayed in appartment seven (4th floor) with my husband and my niece, in December. We LOVED it. We had our own private terrace with a view across Venice to St Marco. Having stayed in a hotel near the station previously, I can say that Ca' Venezia had more facilities for the three of us, at a cheaper price than I paid for *one* person at the hotel. Sure, its a bit run down, but it was clean, we had our own keys, a really good kitchen, there was room in the appartment to sleep 6 or 7 I think. The apartment was comfortably warm. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the appartments are only a short walk from local grocery stores (be warned though that these are definitely closed on Sundays) I'm not sure about the mold in the bathroom (probably because my own bathroom tends to be a bit mildewy, we live in an old terrace). But hey, its Venice, its going to be a bit damp! Our favorite thing was waking up one morning to hear the storm warning sirens, and finding the street had turned into a canal! Locals were wading down it in galoshes, and it explained why all the garbage had been hung up on hooks the day before (to stop it floating away). Everyone was laughing and shrugging. This only lasted for about an hour, then the tide receded and everything back to normal.
