It's hard to say negative things about this hostel since the staff were so nice to us all the time, but I want to be honest about it. The corridors and bathroom areas were filled with a terrible stench of cat litter, which was very unpleasant. The toilets were very clean on inspection, but the smell was awful. Also, the water in the showers fluctuated from boiling hot to freezing cold every 30 seconds or so, which made showers a bit like torture, especially when coming in from the snow and temperatures of -10c outside! One last thing would be that the walls between the rooms were paper thin, which meant that when I met up with a friend who I hadn't seen in months and we chatted late into the night, I felt very guilty the next morning about keeping everyone up! (In my defence, I didn't realise how un-soundproofed the walls were until I had the couple in the room next door getting friendly!)
On the plus side, the location is great (2 minutes walk from the city market, a huge shopping complex and a cinema, 5 minutes walk from the Old Town), and the staff were very helpful. Every day when we went out, the staff could always be heard giving people advice about where to go and what to see, in great English.
In summary, this hostel has all the makings of a great hostel, but I would wait for a few more positive reviews before going there again.

We stayed there for four nights in april. I can't really say anything wrong about it. Maybe that it wasn't so social. But the rooms were great, so were the showers and the toilet. Very clean. Good and cheap laundryservice.

I reach there in early 2005 by a bitter cold winter evening.I was in the large dorm for a few days. The room is ok as beds and linen. As said below the shower water temp regulation is impossible, still very a soviet joke ! As in french we say a "Scottish shower" (sorry folks), but I took it as fun (so be careful). But the best was the people, either the room mates from all over the world than all the staff very friendly an helpfull. Could you believe they surprised me with a small celebration for my birthday.... that was touching !For internet their PC was really busy, they should add a wifi hot spot. There is no real kitchen but just go out to enjoy local restaurants while they are still cheap in compare to other countries. I also will suggest some lockers fore safety, but I had no problem with all my bags under my bed. When I will return to Riga I will return to Elizabeth's fore sure.

I enjoyed my stay here. Met so many interesting people in the common room, which is so big! Very centrally located! All the places I'd like to visit are within the walking distance. Central market is so cheap!!! And it's next to hostel. Clean and comfortable rooms for quite low price. Hope to be back very soon! Thank you Elizabeth's, all of you are very nice!!!

The atmosphere of the hostel is rather dull, but otherwise it is fine place to stay. The facilities are good, service helpful, rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Granted, the showers are hot, but they do not have thermostatic valves so I felt like I almost burned myself when the temperature suddenly went too hot. The location is very convenient to explore the city day and night. I was not interested spending a lot of time at the hostel so this was excellent value for my money.
