Not the best hostel I've ever stayed at but certainly the best I stayed in in the Baltics. I found the staff to be friendly and eager to point you in the right direction if you needed help. The beds are a little small and pokey and it was difficult to get time on the computer to check email, etc (one terminal only). Given the dump I stayed in another town in the Baltics I'd be tempted to give this one full stars. While it's a reasonable walk from the old town the neighbourhood it's in (Uzupis) is quite a cool place. I'd stay there again anytime.

I stayed in this hostel in July this year and I liked it. The rooms are very nice. They're very clean and the beds are good and with clean bedlinen. The rooms are kind of small though. The bathrooms and toilets are nice and clean and there is a good socializing room, with TV and free internet access. There is a kitchen and dining room too, but those are rather poorly equipped.

The staff is nice and friendly, but doesn't speak very good English.

The hostel is nicely located, in a quiet street close to the city center.

Overall I think it's a good hostel. I can recommend it if you're planning to stay in Vilnius.

This hostel is not in the city center but you can reach it in 15min by foot. It's not very new but it's clean and the staff is quite nice.

The Filaretai hostel is located in a quiet house about 1,5 km walk from the old town. The neighbourhood is not so interesting (despite what the Lonely Planet says), but a short walk away you'll already find some nice coffee shops and pubs. The staff were quite friendly, the rooms clean and there is a nice big common room. I guess the only thing that was missing was a breakfast...

We did 24 hours of Vilnius, and stayed at this hotel for just one night. The staff wasn't extreme friendly, and there's a curfew. rooms are ok, showers/toilets clean.

I rate it 3 stars because of the wonderful restaurant with the great view that's situated almost next to the hostel, just down the road!

We've stayed in this hostel in May (2003) on our way to Saint Petersburg. It's absolute average and you get for what you pay. The only real disadvantage is that it's quite far outside of the center. You have to take a bus (about eight stops) to the old town.

The hostel is in a nice old building in a side street (quiet)but nevertheless in good shape. The rooms aren't fancy but clean. Except for Arturas - who seems to be running this place - the others working there aren't really talkative. The best thing about the hostel is the common room - really comfortable with a big couch and even a fireplace! Unfortunately the kitchen could use some investments and I wouldn't recommend cooking there. They have a curfew but you can borrow the key for the front door so even that is no problem.

Altogether a quite good hostel - if only it would be closer to the center.
