BUG review
Located on Warmoesstraat, the oldest street in Amsterdam, the views from some of the rooms here are lovely. The bar downstairs is large and full of backpackers playing pool and drinking games. The dorms have mostly bare yellow walls and rows of metal bunk beds. Nothing spectacular, besides the views and the creative idea of using huge metal barrels with locks as bag storage for guests, instead of the usually tiny safe boxes big enough to fit a passport. Some of the bathrooms are dirty and in need of a renovation. But the staff at the bar are animated and nice.

The location of Meeting Point Hostel was the first thing that impressed me, taking only a 5 minute walk from the main train station in Amsterdam.
Upon arrival, I was really impressed with the style and vibe of the hostel. The walls were decorated with great paintings and the receptionist was really friendly.
The security of the hostel was also clear, as we purchased a locker for £2 and were issued with a ticket which we had to show in order to gain access to the dorms.
Myself and 5 friends stayed in an 18 bed dorm, which gave us the perfect opportunity to meet fellow travellers, and also take in the long row of coffee shops and typical Amsterdam trinket stores from above, with the large dorm windows offering great views.
The breakfast at 2.50 each is great value too, and fills you up ready for a day of walking around the sights. The staff are really flexible too, and will continue serving breakfast until past mid-day if the guests need it.
The street the hostel is on leads directly on to the National Monument square, with a supermarket and the concentric canals not far from here.
I would definitely recommend this hostel to any traveller or visitor to Amsterdam if they want to experience a true slice of Amsterdam culture!
For the amount of time you actually spend in the hostel, this place was amazing! 17 April 2010

I absolutely LOVED this hostel. If you are used to having 5 star accomodations then this place is not for you. But if you are looking for a great location and great affordability, then this is the hostel for you! It is literally a two minute walk to the main train station, there is FABULOUS shopping one block over, and the red light district 2-3 blocks over in the other direction. We could walk to the Dam Square, and because the train station was so close we could go ANYWHERE very easily. Lots of restaurants close by too. In particular the one right next door to the hostel was delicious! It was nice having a bar right in the hostel and there was always lots of people to mingle with. You are allowed to smoke inside so if smoking isn't your thing then you might want to skip this one. Everyone was very friendly, the rooms were clean (just nothing fancy!). I stayed in the 18 person bedroom and it was just a huge room with metal frame bunkbeds but everyone was very considerate of each other (ie...noise). The bathrooms were very clean and were cleaned a few times a day. The only thing was the stairs. Our room was on the top floor and the staircase literally was like a ladder, and with a huge backpack it was a wee bit scary. But really most of the time we just laughed and joked about it. It is in a very old building and it has so much character to it. I just loved it! I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't need frilly fancy travels! For the amount of time you are actually in the hostel, this place is perfect!
