BUG Review
The Irish pub downstairs in this hostel is a great social area for meeting travellers and friendly locals alike. They have sports nights and good food, including a nice Irish breakfast. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and it is located on a fun street in the Red Light District. It has big open rooms, which are very simple and a bit on the dirty side.
Price Dorm bed €16-30
Price includes breakfast Prices are in euro and are inclusive of all taxes.
Reception Open Mon-Fri 8am-1am, Sat-Sun 8am-3am; 24 hour check-in available
At the bottom of the stairs up to the hostel part of Nelly's (second floor above the pub) you'll see a sign that lists the house rules. After ruling out "ani-social behavior", "aggression" and "halluciants", it warns of "no walking around naked". Haha! For the two nights I was there, that was the only rule I saw violated, but it was violated a LOT. The one floor of the hostel is devided up into three dorm rooms (mixed) of about 7 - 8 bunks, a few closet toilets and one common bathroom/shower for everyone. While the guests were mixed male/female in the dorms and the shower room, a lot of people had no concerns about stripping, changing, drying off or just brushing their teeth or shaving while completely naked without the least bit concern of who else was there and who could see them. Guys and girls. It was a little surprising how casual everyone was about it. Needless to say, if privacy is a big issue, there is very little of it here. The place was okay, though. It wasn't a palace, but it was warm and dry. You don't go to Amsterdam to sit around in the hostel all day, right? But the bar downstairs was cool, and you could NOT beat the location. Spend the night downstairs and then stumble your way up the steps to your bunk! It would be nice if the windows opened a little for some fresh air in the morning when early rising get up and start smoking in the rooms.

Durty Nellys provided myself and three girl friends a bed for our three night stay in Amsterdam. We all had a fab time in Amsterdam and enjoyed our stay in Durty Nellys, however I must confess none of us would hurry back, (to Durty Nellys that is, not Dam). The hostel is well located and smoking is allowed in the rooms (although im still undecided as to whether or not that is a good thing). The dorms are large, but filled to the brim, fortunately all our room mates were really nice so that was all part of the fun of it. Lockers are provided which your advised to use as security does appear to be an issue. Breakfast is also included in the price, (which consists of hard, warm bread, I wouldnt quite call it toast; an egg, cheese and tea or coffee, but it's edible enough). Theres a bar which seems to be open most of the time, which is incredibly handy but also quite expensive. My biggest qualm with the hostel was that the staff could be friendlier, (particularly the girl who served the breakfast in the morning, she was scary) and for what it is, it is a bit over priced.

The guy who ran the hostel was really nice, but that's the last time I'll use the phrase "really nice" in this review. It was overpriced, old, and dirty. You could smoke pot in the rooms so people stayed up ALL night toking up in the 16 bed room. They provided a free breakfast, but I didn't stick around there long enough to eat it. One night was more than enough for me. At least the shower was hot...

The rooms were tiny and had uncomfortable bunkbeds.A woman wakes you up every morning at 9:00am, my bed side locker was broken into, and i was bitten several times by god knows what. So if you want an uncomfortable nights sleep, have your money stolen then Durty Nelly's is the place for you.

It wasn't bad but I got eaten alive by "Bedbugs," little black bloodthirsty critters who come out in the dark. One night I woke up with a contact high from everyone else's pot smoking...that was fun but confusing. The food and location were excellent but if you want a good night's sleep you might need earplugs. Its a 24 hour bong hit.

This is not a bad spot at all if looking for cheap and basicaccomadation. The showers were hot, had bedside lockers and situated over a pub so u could nip down for a pint handy enough, although the guinness was quite expensive at 4 60, and i thought dublin was expensive.Good location also in the heart of all the action and closeto central station. The Dutch breakfeast in the morning consisted of eggs and bread which was a change from the cholestroel high irish breakfeast and is free if manage to get up before 10.Ideal place to stay if only for a long weekend.Up be jaysus. The bathroom did stink! The rooms were ok, except I got a bed by the window and froze the whole night. There must have been a hole or something in it. The staff there are quite nice and friendly. This one lady was really annoying though. She woke us up about 8.45/9 by going around and asking everyone's names. I hadn't expected that. The breakfast was real good and so was the atmosphere. It's not exactly in a quiet part of town. It's near a lot of other pubs and I was woken up several times by people in the street. It's a nice place though, overall.
