The newest hostel in Amsterdam, this brilliant little place is between Dam Square and Leidseplein, in a busy street surrounded by great restaurants. It is an old hotel, currently under renovations, which has small rooms with clean en suite bathrooms in each, and brand new thick mattresses. One of its best features is the common area, a tulip-themed oasis with nice lighting and plush couches lining the walls and around tables. They offer free internet, free breakfast, and lockers for each bed. It’s too bad they don’t allow alcohol, but backpackers are still found lounging here chatting with each other, most likely over a joint and with cool music playing from the bar. The big windows are nice in daytime but at night the street can be quite noisy. Staff are talkative and helpful.
