If you are traveling by car you should consider to stay here.

It's within easy distance to lovely beaches, shopping spees, interesting museums and Amsterdam.

An idea for families by car: drive to Heiloo (next village), park your car at the station and ride half an hour to Amsterdam by train. If the tariffs haven't changed children pay 1 Euro for every way and the adult fare ist cheaper than parking in Amsterdam.

i was trying to find a suitable place to spend my bday. and what better place than a 13th century castle.

i had a great time here. its really charming to be able to stay in a castle with a real moat and turrets and all. the staff are really friendly when they are there. but quite a few times i had to look all over for them. but otherwise no regrets.

negatives are that it is a bit out of the way. so the next supermarket is bout 30 mins away. plus theres no kitchen so u have to eat here which is quite expensive (10 euros for dinner). the hostel costs 27.50 pp per night which isnt cheap.

but if u consider that ur getting to stay in a castle for the price, then wow its reasonable.

make sure u get a turret room. they have wonderful views...

cheers mihir

This is a wicked old castle with a moat. Staff here were very friendly and the food was good. It is in a good location close to the coast and a major dutch motorway.
