This isn't your ordinary hostel/hotel. It is a large hall consisting of around 120 beds. I just stayed a night, and for 10 euros you'd do well to find a cheaper place all over Europe. I guess I was lucky that the place was maybe not even half full. I mean to be honest, Rotterdam isn't much of a tourist magnet, although I guess that's being in the shadow of Amsterdam for you. Anyway we were stuck in the corner on our own and in a place that if full could be very rowdy meaning any quota of sleep an impossibility actually in fact turned out to be a very good night's sleep! This place is only open for 2 months a year so as I said, don't expect your usual hostel arrangement. Although it had a bar. The staff were very accommodating indeed however, and the location of Mafkees couldn't really be closer to Central station. If stopping off in Rotterdam for a night like we did, Mafkees could be your cup of tea.

De Mafkees is a weird place but loads of fun. I stayed there last year with a friend and we had a great time. The staff is fun and very helpful. We are coming back to Holland this summer and will surely pay De Mafkees another visit.
