BUG review
The Hague’s Stayokay youth hostel is a clean and well-maintained hostel with amenities that include a cafeteria-style restaurant with a large dining area and a bar with table football and a pool table. As with all other Stayokay hostels, there is no kitchen and it is used to accommodate school groups so it isn’t the best option if you’re looking for a fun hostel to meet other travellers. Internet access (including Wi-Fi) costs €3 for one hour, €10 for five hours or €15 for 10 hours. Accommodation is in six and eight-bed dormitories (all with en suite bathrooms and individual reading lights). The rear of the hostel overlooks a canal and it is conveniently located close to Den Haag HS station and within walking distance to the city centre.

We used this hostel as our base to visit Holland. It is very safe. You have to pass a card to get into the building and then pass it again to get into your room. The rooms are pretty clean, but it is clear that it is a busy hostel, things are used. But reasonably so, it wasn't dirty. Staff were helpful too. Breakfast was fine. It is a big hostel, so not really the ideal place to meet people if you're travelling solo. The greatest thing about the hostel was its location. It is a 10 minute walk from the train station, which was great. There is also a supermarket and a bar with cheap Internet right next door, which is so practical.I wasn't really crazy about den Haag as a destination in itself, but it was a nice base to visit other stuff.
Clean, secure and wide range of facilites, but EXPENSIVE 27 April 2007
Pros:
Clean, good range of facilities, very modern.
Cons:
A long way out of the city centre, but close to a station. Mixed dorms.

This has the potential to be a truly great hostel, with its small spacious dorms, excellent buffet breakfast, wide range of facilities - including bar, lounge and patio, and high security. It is out of the city centre but very close to a railway station, so it is easy to find. It is very clean and modern and well maintained and it seemed bright, airy and open. However, I was unhappy to be placed in a four bedded dorm with a young couple who spent all night having sex, and I felt such a large hostel with so many dorm rooms should be able to offer at least one women only room - there would still be loads more for mixed sex use. I didn't find the staff very friendly or helpful, though there was lots of tourist information around. Compared to Rotterdam and Haarlem, the price was very high, nearly double the cost per night of Rotterdam, which offered a similar standard. At that time there were no other hostels in the Hague, and local hotels are not cheap either so there is no local competition from other hostels. This is perfect for honeymooners and people who like to watch them, but I would not stay there again.

Really close to the train station, this hostel has been recently renovated and you can tell! Each dorm has it's own bathroom and shower and the bar/common area is beautiful. The only bad thing was that the staff at the front desk were not very friendly and the bartender was TOO friendly, really creepy actually - Ladies buy your drink and sit at a table but do not under any circumstances engage him in conversation, even if he offers you free drinks, or he will stalk you for the rest of your stay.

Excellent location close to HS station. It's a bit of a walk down into the centre but not too bad. Rooms were very clean, bathrooms excellent. Very typical NJHC hostel. Obviously this hostel is a bit quieter than those in Amsterdam - you can often still get a room here after hostels in Amsterdam are full. If you do choose to stay here there are trains 24hrs into Amsterdam and there are plenty of restaurants in Den Haag itself. I would stay here again.

They should take first year economics students here and demonstrate the ill-effects of a monopoly - as the only hostel in The Hague, these guys charge like a wounded bull. Double to triple the price of comparable hostels elsewhere.Nonetheless, the showers where hot and free flowing, Joel the barman was friendly, the vibe was nice, although the staff at the front desk are a bit curt. The Hague is worth a visit, and this is the only thing in town on the hostel front; so check it out for yourself rather than listening to whingers like me!

I spent 3 days/nights here, and the bartenders and staff kicked ass. They took us out for a night in the city late one night, and it was one of the best nights I had in europe!

I stayed here for one night in May 2002. The hostel has a great location, only a few blocks from Holland Spoor station, and there is an attractive canalside bar, internet access, cafe area and modern, clean rooms. I stayed in a four bedded dorm. All have private bathroom. Breakfast was an extensive buffet. There is no curfew, but if you want to stay out after 1am you must get a nightkey from reception BEFORE hand. I would not stay here again however, as dorms are mixed (as a lone female traveller, I did not feel comfortable sharing with strange blokes and couples) and I found it very expensive - 26 euros a night with my HI card. The hostel in Rotterdam (only 15 minutes away by train) was nearly 10 euros a night cheaper and nicer, and hostels in Amsterdam are also cheaper.

NJHC City Hostel Den Haag is located on a river within short walking distance from Holland Spoor train station. Hostel has very attractive reception, bar and breakfast area. We stayed in a very clean and spacious triple room with a nice large window and private shower/WC. It is less expensive than accomodations in Amsterdam and probably much nicer. During our stay there we were able to make relaxing day trips to Leiden and Amsterdam.
