What can I write about this place? We booked from home (you never know in august), gave caution money etc...We reached the B and B utrecht (this one far from city centre) and we were told to take our baggages and to go to the other hostel of the company, this one B and B Utrecht City Centre.We insisted that we had a booking form with the name of that hostel not the this one... but we were told they had to move us for organisational reasons and there were no place for us there.So we hardly reached the second place, because of false signals.We entered and a spanish woman proposed us a large room (we booked for a 4-room) at the same price because there wasnt anything else.But we payed more than 11 euros for caution money and they didnt want to give us them back! My friend Tinazzo Eurike (take a look at his reviews on this site- Ghent-Bruxelles-Rotterdam..., theyre funny and useful) used diplomacy to solve the problem and obtained the caution money back and a 3 star Hotel (from the same owners of the hostels) just near the historic centre.We accepted but, believe me, when I think of these days, I shiver!Cracks on the ceiling, a mysterious hole also on the ceiling, old linen and a bathroom full of spiders for 30 euros pro person!Bu the city is really beautiful and staying more days is worthy...but not with that kind of organisational team

The living quarters were absolutely filthy!! - the ground in the dorm room was really dirty and I'd guess it hasn't been cleaned for years. The bathrooms were o-kay. Utrecht is a lovely city but don't stay here!

This place once was great but has not been maintained well. It is not clean and need lots of attention. Checking in can be a trial and when it's very busy people sleep in the kitchen area. It's cheap, but beware what you see on the website is definately not what you get!

Yes, this place has free food, and quite a social atmosphere, but a lot of my rating is formed on whether the place is clean or not--it's not. The dorms and beds in the dorms are run down, floors are dirty, bathrooms and showers are moldy and not so nice. At least it was that way in the dorm. The kitchen--not so impressed either. The stove didn't work, and some of the food I wouldn't touch--old, outdated stuff. So if cleanliness is a big issue for you, this is probably not the place to stay.

The hostel is very sweet, historical mirrors and curly stairs, big garden... I´ve met a lot of nice people there. Francesca from Venezia, French guy Serge, bloody killer Ricardo from Mexico, nice Katia, crazy Englishman David with his Dutch girlfriend Janet... I mean the social atmosphere is unbelievable...it´s like a big family. People eat and party together, watching cinema, playing drums (you can use more then 100 music instruments). Go onto a roof and you will find a great panorama of Utrecht. Free internet 24 hours, bikes, all you can find in the kitchen is free (they must be crazy)...
