NOT the only hostel in Poznan (but I'm still here :( ), September 1, 2006

I agree with the last reviewer about lack of atmosphere etc, and I'm just glad I haven't had to stay in any other Dizzy Daisies... But I didn't even find the staff helpful or particularly friendly. I got the distinct impression that they really, really, really didn't want to be doing the job. Ok, so it probably didn't help that I was asking so many questions, but hey, that's what you're there for, right? (especially the people at the station) Yes they provide a free taxi TO the hostel (but not back to the station at the end of your stay), that's about the only thing going for them as far as I'm concerned!

As far as it being the only hostel in Poznan - this is not quite the case. I was couchsurfing in Warsaw before I came to Poznan, and my host there had a book which had FOUR hostels in Poznan, none of them Dizzy Daisy! BUT they are all aimed at Poles and not tourists. One of them is listed as "close" to the station (ie 15 minute walk, on the other side of the station from the town centre), but it was closed for a month which is why I ended up at DD. They are also probably a bit cheaper than DD. These other ones also don't have 24 hour reception, and in school holidays might be quite full with school groups etc... Anyway, the tourist info service at the station might have more info, and it might be worth checking it out. I didn't really bother, I came to DD hoping to come across other travellers and thought it might be more likely here than the other hostels - but so far I've met no-one but staff... So, bad decision! (I should have checked this site first ;) ). Such is life.

For those who have stayed at any other Dizzy Daisys, this is a carbon copy. No atmosphere, no common rooms, large lame institutional dorms, smelly barely funtnional toilets N bathrooms. Location is reasonable.

Staff are friendly and helpful but they can not make up for the lack of everything else.

This is unfortunately still the only hostel in Poznan and you are not likely to meet other travellers in a place like this.
