Don't pay for this hostel, just climb through the window, its easier than getting help from the staff and its free too :)If you are in room 117 and there is a french speaking portugese guy who talks in his sleep, give him our regards!

...Because this place is way the hell out there. If you want to see Lisbon you should stay at the city center and RESERVE AHEAD. Both that place and this one were nearly impossible to stay at during a random mid-week in March. Huge school groups from all over Portugal stay at the two places quite often. The place also isn't labelled as a hostel....it's a big white building with "Instituto Portugues de Juventude" written by the door, which offers other things like classes, etc. to the community. So it's 1.5 km to the Metro trains (about 15 minutes walk) and apparently there's a bus but I never had the patience to wait for it. The Metro stop is also the main bus center, handy to getting here and away from elsewhere; to find the hostel after arriving here, just walk to the street with the Warner Brothers logo, turn left and walk a mile on the left side of the street. But it is the farthest Metro stop on the whole circuit. Even after getting on a train it takes half an hour to get anywhere on the west side of town. What I'm saying is if you want to see Lisbon and the City Center hostel is booked up, it's better to stay at the Oeiras(Catalazete) hostel which is a little closer and a whole lot nicer. The place itself is mostly clean and the rooms are spacious with 4 beds each and big closets for each person- a nice plus. The have a kitchen but there isn't anything there to cook/eat with except 2 pots, 1 spoon, 1 fork. There is an oven, though, so you can buy pizzas at the bus station supermarket and cook them here. And alcohol is not allowed. I didn't pay attention to that rule. All in all it's an OK place but far away and in an ugly neighborhood.

I only stayed a night but had a good impression. shower shoes and earplugs became handy and you might want to take good care of your belongings since the rooms were open (1 key/room). helpfull staff, close enough to the metro, very good price, breakfast included. the place is rather popular, i had to go elsewhere on a November weekend.

I stayed at this hostel in Nov. 2003. Helpful and friendly English speaking staff will go out of their way to help. Decent breakfast included for 10 euros a night, safe neighborhood, close to bus line and 5 min walk to metro station. 2 blocks from old Expo 98 site with shopping mall and supermarket. 10 min bus ride to airport. Have seen cleaner bathrooms but friendly staff and great accommodations as kitchen, terrace, washer, TV room, big breakfast, and small cafe make up for it.

I was there in September 2003. Hostel is very nice, clean rooms, breakfast in price. Good location in Parque de Nacoes, close to airport. I recommend this hostel to everyone. Really safely district and very good care at hostel. Bus no. 44 to city centre (30-40min. depends on traffic in the city)

I stayed in the hostel, last summer and it was great. The staff from the reception are very helpfull and friendlly.Has a small members kitchen where you can cook and wash your clothes, as well a nice terrace.Around the hostel you have the Parque das Nacoes where you can have fun. It's 30 min. from the city center, but very closed to the airport, around 10 min by bus.
