This was the first hostel I stayed in during my 2 weeks in Portugal and Spain, and every other hostel was a let-down after this. The hostel is in a great location, and the old building its in is gorgeous. Though there are still high ceilings and wood floors, the bathrooms and kitchen are modern and clean. The free breakfast provides cereal and delicious buns with different spreads. At night, the hostel staff will make an excellent meal for 7 Euros (wine, salad, main, dessert). The rooms are huge. Many hostels would have added another bunk or two to accomodate more people, but not here. There is ample room, and huge lockers to store your backpacks and valuables. The people, both backpackers and staff, are great. Outings, both formally planned and spontaneously put together will bring everyone together to go to concerts or other events. There are private and communal bathrooms, which are thoroughly renovated and modern. My one complaint is that sometimes you can get a cold shower. I was only there for 2 days, so I'm not sure if it depends on the time of day, or how many people have showered before, but the first day I had a great warm shower (at night) and 2 days later I had a freezing shower (in the morning). If you go to the website, you can see how gorgeous the place is: http://www.lisbonloungehostel.com/ The pictures are accurate, it is this nice.
