Pros:he hostal is a youth hostal, wich menas that for entering they requere that you have a hostal card, wich is quite cheap and wich you can get at the reception. The card costs 1euro for portugueses and 5 euros for foreigners.I sayed at the hostal for 2 nignts. the view is simply amazing. the rivers and the ocean are liretally at your feet. ther's a supermarket at the other side of the street and public transportation is cheap and easly acessible.the staff is great!Cons:the price. 30 euro a night for a double room with batroom. for that price you can stay at ibisor melia, wich are cleaner, quieter, dafer and have a tv in the room.tghe room facilities are poor. it´s not verry clean specially the bathroom, there was one door missing in my closet.you can get more for the same price.

Very good hostel located 10 minutes from the city centre, bus stop is right in front of the hostel and the ticket is 1 E one way (.55 if you buy it on kiosk), 4.5 for taxi. Rooms are good, but yes keep the windows locked. We stayed there for 2 nights and the first night all four of us got separate rooms, but for the next night they gave us a room together, there is also a nice common area with pool table, TV and great chairs. When we arrived tired at 10pm we took a shower and there was no COLD water ??!?? But it was just that one time...The toiletes are clean and big. They lock the hostel at midnight but there is a night guard and he will let you in anytime...

The hostel is very nice and the receptionist girl is just lovely. The views of the river and ocean are just incredible and the terrace is very nice, great place to spend the evening with friends. Only big drawback: don't leave your room window open, as during my stay many things were stolen from the rooms by people outside the hostel, as the rooms face the street or the river and many people just pass by and may enter the rooms. Either way, as long as you keep the door/window close, there is no problem. a little bit far from the city centre, but 1 min walk from the bus stop!

This hostel is one of the large, impersonal institutional variety, operated primarily with school groups in mind. It is reasonably clean, has fair quality beds (albeit bunks, as one would expect in this sort of hostel) and fairly large and reasonably kept common bathrooms. The location is out of the way of the city center, Ribiera riverside district, and port wine cellars located to the south of the river, which is a disadvantage. However, few hostel guests notice seem to notice that there is a good, fairly trendy and modernish neighborhood about fifteen minutes walk to the west of the hostel (along the river, in the opposite direction of the city center) that has some decent nightlife and dining that appeals to a local crowd. A few bus lines provide connections to the rail station and city center -- this is fortunate, as it is much too far to walk from either. A well-stocked supermarket is located just across the street from the hostel, and the hostel includes a fair kitchen/dining area. The hostel does include a decent bar, with big comfortable chairs, good sound system and fair drink prices. But as the hostel primarily caters to the school group crowd, you had better expect to share it with many who are more of age to be drinking soda rather than the local cerveja. The conditions are decent and prices affordable, so this is a reasonable, functional hostel that will do. But the institutional feel and the dominance of school groups, with that resulting lack of coziness or backpacker ambience, is unlikely to charm you into a long stay.

The hostel is on the edge of town. Believe me in this case it is an advantage. The hostel staff are friendly and will try and help you out (except one of the night staff who will tell you leave the back garden). There is a supermarket on the oppsite side of the road. Very cheap and very well stocked - beer, fresh fruit and fish etc (1.56 euro for a six pack of beer). As for the hostel it is very good. They have a back garden facing the river and you will just find yourself sitting in the sun most of the day and night. They do have a lockout, but they are not very strick on it, so you can go to your room most of the time.As for getting there your best bet is to get the no. 1 bus as it will take 5minutes or less to get there. If you take no. 35 bus well sit back and read paper its going to take some time (35 mins+).
